About this listen

Dear Best Friend,

I can already tell that I will hate everyone but you.

Sincerely,

Ava Helmer

(That brunette who won't leave you alone)

We're still in the same room, you weirdo.

Stop crying.

G

So begins a series of texts and emails sent between two best friends, Ava and Gen, as they head off to their first semesters of college on opposite sides of the country. From first loves to weird roommates, heartbreak, self-discovery, coming out, and mental health, the two best friends will document every moment to each other. But as each changes and grows into her new life, will their friendship be able to survive the distance?

I Hate Everyone But You, the debut novel by two emerging major talents in YA, Allison Raskin and Gaby Dunn, is a story about new beginnings, love and heartbreak, and, ultimately, the power of friendship.

I love this book!

I love this book, but I loved reading it more than having Allison and Gaby read it to me. The print format should not be skipped. Go get yourself a copy.

pleasantly surprised

this book was definitely different from what I usually listen to, but I really liked it. I loved the two narrators...they did an excellent job.

Fun and fast

It was the deal of the day and had good reviews. It was super funny most of the time, hit a few deep subjects, and was the most frivolous thing I’ve listened to in a while.

That said it could have gone either way but the narrators didn’t an amazing job of keeping it real. Totally made it for me.

I loved this book.

I have had this book for just over a week and listened to it twice. I love Gaby and Allison and their storytelling. I can't wait to read, see, and hear more from both authors.

I was a little under how it would work just hearing emails and texts, but I was pleasantly surprised. very enjoyable to listen to, though not a whole lot of plot.

Great story and narration

I love the dual narration. At first I wasn't sure I'd be able to tell the voices apart easily, but as the story progressed I did so with ease. The unique way the story is written, through emails and texts etc, is very engaging and surprisingly easy to follow as an audiobook. The story is relatable to issues in our society today. Mental health, lgbt+, coming of age etc

More of this

Loved the format and communication between these characters. I gifted the paperback to my best friend (from high school through college to present) and it has taken us both back to our own experience going away to seperate universities. Looking forward to the next project from these amazing women. Buy this book!!

Sassy, lippy, bent, and hilarious until last hour

As a child of the 70s, this was not my world at all. And yet, I had a gas listening.

The entire story was told thru texts, which should have been annoying. And yet, I can’t imagine a better way to tell this tale.

This was shallow, crude and all about two idiot girls going sex, drugs, and life-crazy in their first year of college. And yet, especially in the final hour, this was sweet, heartfelt, and actually deep.

40 yrs old and it's still relatable

The format takes a second to get used to but it becomes less annoying once you start treating it like a conversation with a friend. Adorable example of the banter between girlfriends.
