Publisher's summary

Erin Falconer, editor in chief and co-owner of the highly respected self-improvement site Pick the Brain (with over 1.8 million monthly page views), shows overscheduled, overwhelmed women how to do less so that they can achieve more.

Women live in a state of constant guilt: that we're not doing enough, that we're not good enough, that we can't keep up. If we're not climbing the corporate ladder, building our side hustle, preparing home-cooked meals, tucking the kids in at night, meditating daily, and scheduling playdates, date nights, and girls' nights every week, we feel like we're not living our best lives. Yet traditional productivity books - written by men - barely touch the tangle of cultural pressures that women feel when facing down a to-do list.

Finally, in the first productivity book by a woman in a decade, Erin Falconer will show you how to do less - a lot less. In fact, How to Get Sh*t Done will teach you how to zero in on the three areas of your life where you want to excel, and then it will show you how to offload, outsource, or just stop giving a damn about the rest. As the founder of two technology start-ups and one of Refinery29's Top 10 Women Changing the Digital Landscape for Good, Erin has seen what happens when women chase an outdated, patriarchal model of productivity, and in How to Get Sh*t Done she shows how even the most perfectionistic among us can tap in to our inner free spirit and learn to feel like badasses rather than drudges.

Packed with real-life advice, honest stories from Erin's successful career, and dozens of actionable resources, How to Get Sh*t Done will forever reframe productivity so that you can stop doing everything for everyone and start doing what matters to you.

Amazing!

I loved this book! I feel it was written just for me and my life. I will definitely be reading this one several times. It's exactly what women need to stop the burn out effect and start achieving meaningful productivity.

I feel personally attacked by this book

Overall a great look at how women, especially us over achieving people pleasers, aren't really being productive. Her personal stories drug on a bit for me but then overall message of the book was like a lightbulb going off. one of the question sections really kicked me in the face and made me reevaluate a lot of things.

Fantastic How To from the Mind of a Woman

I chose this book for motivation and for yet another way to organize my life and everything in it. This was just what I needed. This gives you a practical female point of view and helps you wrap your mind around all of the things that you need to do, but from a woman and mother perspective. I loved the stories and I loved that she gave me permission to focus on what I needed to do. If you're a wife, mother, CEO or all three.....this is a good place to start to unjumble your mind.

Solid advice for women and men alike!

I'm a dude. A straight dude, if it matters. And I got this book for my wife and I to listen to because she struggles with a lot of the same "yes man" things that I do. And though it was written for a female audience, we both got a ton out of it! We really enjoyed this author a lot. Lots of great takeaways, especially in one of the last chapters where she wraps it all up for us. Is she writing another book anytime soon? I'd read it!

Uplifting and empowering

Still couldn’t help but to feel like the stories or examples does not apply to me in this point of life. I can’t afford Angie’s list.

More about feminism than productivity

First few chapters are about being a feminist and not about productivity. Needed more concrete ways to be productive.
