About this listen
A group of strangers is pitted against one another in Matt Shaw’s latest extreme horror.
The game is simple. Each of the contestants is asked a question: How much to complete a certain task? They then have two minutes to name a price, but if they go too high and their fellow contestants are cheaper, they have just priced themselves out of the game. The trick is to go high enough to win a good amount of money but low enough to ensure you are the winner. By the end of the bidding war, the person who is the cheapest contestant has to then go through, one by one, completing the tasks. No backing out allowed now....
But who is running this game? And more to the point - why?
Warning: extreme content not for the easily offended.

Story
The world is overpopulated. Resources are running out. In an effort to balance things out, the government has stepped in with a radical new lottery system. All names are put into a computer, with 200 names being drawn at random. Of those people, 100 will get one color (red) token and 100 will get another color token (white). Whatever color they received, they had to go to the government-run club for the night. Of those who received the white token, they would be going home the following day. For those who received the red tokens? They would be leaving in a body bag.

Story
The Holy Bible, according to Matt Shaw. Taking the popular stories from the Bible and giving them a horror twist, this book is not intended to be used as a way of preaching your beliefs. God would probably frown down upon such usage, but if you wanted to put your feet up and chuckle along with some dark humor, then God would surely approve. For fans of the original book, this isn't for you. You won't like this. Don't listen to it. Don't be mad at me for writing it, though because, if you think about it, I am still getting the important stories out there. Kind of.

Story
Have you ever been cut up by another road user? Have you have been stuck behind some idiot driving well below the speed limit? Have you ever had to swerve to avoid someone who hasn't used their indicators? Have you ever been served by rude staff members who clearly don't want to be working? Have you ever listened to just how rude old people can be? Ever got frustrated listening to the excessive open-mouthed chewing of someone sitting near you? Have you ever been cheated on by a partner? Paul James has and...he's had enough.

Story
The year is 2032, and five-year-old Jacob is opening the biggest gift, beneath the Christmas tree, which is labeled for him: his very first semi-automatic rifle—and he couldn't be prouder. He smiles to his parents who sit close by. They don't smile back. Their minds are stuck on earlier events of what should have been a magical day: the moment they found out Jacob was set to be a brother.

She had to bring them into the warmth. She had to give them the lives they'd otherwise never live. It was her mission. But with each new doll brought home, her yearning for a living child of her own continued to grow. Extreme
First, be aware this book is fairly extreme in content. That can't be expressed strongly enough
I went in expecting a different kind of horror (Slasher/monster type) not the psychological horror this actually is. Still it raised a number of self-reflections and was an interesting experience. I'm glad I did it, though I likely won't be looking for more in this line in the near future.
I received a copy of this book at my request in exchange for a FAIR review.

Dark and twisted!
This was a good dark book, just enough details but not enough to slow the book down, honestly the only thing I would change is for it to be longer.
Narration was amazing clear distinct voices for everyone, no mix ups or mispronouncing, people complaining about the accents are just trying to find a problem when there isn’t one.
I received this book for free and left an honest review.

Definitely Don't Want to Play This Game
High level I thought the idea of the story was a good one, I did not think the execution of it was there. I felt like this story wasn't about the characters as you don't really get to know them that well and to be honest they weren't memorable enough for me to follow who was who throughout it. For a story that revolves around the plot, I felt it really needed to be stronger and not be just about how gross you can make it. I love graphic horror stories and this had scenes that will make you want to puke, that is for sure. Matt Shaw has a great way with words to describe situations and their detail down to such a level that there were parts that even I had a hard time with, not something I say often at all. While what occurs will offend the easily offended, I didn't find anything that far from the typical extreme horror I listen to that almost always comes with a trigger warning on the cover. So if you are looking for a story that will completely gross you out and allow you to indulge in your psychotic fantasies, look no further. Shaw is definitely an author I will add to my list for future listening.
Matthew Berry did a good job with the narration. I liked both his narrator and character voices. As with any story like this I am Impressed with Berry's ability to read this with a steady voice. Yes, clearly this is a book that takes place in England, no Berry doesn't use a British accent, so what? I have heard tons of American stories being told by people who had a British accent, doesn't change anything. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

with an easy start I was not expecting to get punched in the face with the vile (amazing) descriptions in the later chapters. I was hooked from the start. I love the whole game and tasks involved!

Kept me up Reading
I'm not sure I've read a book quite like this before. It's unique and gross and completely fascinating. I read it all in one night because I just had to know what would happen next. I love the odd collection of characters and the what-if type scenarios this got me thinking about.

A Game You Don't Want To Win
This wonderful story is about a social experiment in game form. How much will it take to get you to do some of the most vile and disgusting stuff that can be imagined. Matt Shaw weaves a tight tale that keeps you wrapped up tight and most definitely makes you sick at a few points. I highly recommend this fun tale and I can't wait to read/hopefully hear part 2.

You Will Definitely Gag!
What would you do for money? This book explores the idea of how far desperate people will go to get some quick cash. What starts as a game of “How Much To” quickly unravels into a realistic horror story for the “winner” of the game.
Short but intense. I binged this audiobook in one go.
I’ve read several Matt Shaw books in the past, and I have grown used to the gore of his stories. This one wasn’t gory so much as it was gross. Lots of gagging moments, but it’s written in a way that makes it so hard to stop listening. You just have to know what will happen next, and for me, I found myself wondering if I'd be able to go through with The Game and what you would do if you were the characters.
This latest book by Matt Shaw is definitely one you won’t forget soon after reading it.
Narration was perfect.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

I have read better
Matt Shaw is a sick effed-up writer. Sick bastards was my first title by him. Unfortunately nothing measures up to that. The this story is not bad I just was left wanting and if you know his style that's pretty bad.. lol

Good overall, nice tension.
Could’ve benefited from a Full Cast production and more details. Performance and story were good though. I felt sick at all the right parts lol.
