Holly Gibney, one of Stephen King’s most compelling and resourceful characters, returns in this chilling novel to solve the gruesome truth behind multiple disappearances in a midwestern town.

“Sometimes the universe throws you a rope.”BILL HODGES

Stephen King’s Holly marks the triumphant return of beloved King character Holly Gibney. Readers and listeners have witnessed Holly’s gradual transformation from a shy (but also brave and ethical) recluse in Mr. Mercedes to Bill Hodges’s partner in Finders Keepers to a full-fledged, smart, and occasionally tough private detective in The Outsider. In King’s new novel, Holly is on her own, and up against a pair of unimaginably depraved and brilliantly disguised adversaries.

When Penny Dahl calls the Finders Keepers detective agency hoping for help locating her missing daughter, Holly is reluctant to accept the case. Her partner, Pete, has COVID. Her (very complicated) mother has just died. And Holly is meant to be on leave. But something in Penny Dahl’s desperate voice makes it impossible for Holly to turn her down.

Mere blocks from where Bonnie Dahl disappeared live Professors Rodney and Emily Harris. They are the picture of bourgeois respectability: married octogenarians, devoted to each other, and semi-retired lifelong academics. But they are harboring an unholy secret in the basement of their well-kept, book-lined home, one that may be related to Bonnie’s disappearance. And it will prove nearly impossible to discover what they are up to: they are savvy, they are patient, and they are ruthless.

Holly must summon all her formidable talents to outthink and outmaneuver the shockingly twisted professors in this chilling new masterwork from Stephen King.

“I could never let Holly Gibney go. She was supposed to be a walk-on character in Mr. Mercedes and she just kind of stole the book and stole my heart. Holly is all her.” STEPHEN KING

Good book-

If you can get past the lefty preaching. It’s unfortunate because the previous books didn’t have much if any but this one quite a bit.

Fantastic!

Don’t let the right wingers turn you off this book. The narration was spot on, and it was a well written masterfully told story! I love Stephen King, and it’s not even about the horror it’s about his excellent writing. He doesn’t say or reflect anything that isn’t happening in . our world today. He’s just giving characters a voice of the people that are in our world today.

Very Disappointed

I've loved SK since I was in high school. I spent summers binging his books. I never cared about his politics. it was his characters and settings that always felt lived in and relatable. Holly is an awesome character, and I was looking forward to this new chapter for her. I don't want to be brow beat with the political views right or left. I just wanted a great story. Maybe next time.

Loved it.

Loved going on this ride with Stephen. He never disappoints. Holly is one of my favorite characters. So happy to see an old friend again.

The mind is a terrible things…

A truly captivating story that includes real life events, as the author himself states, makes the story more believable. It felt relevant to the characters and the story. If there’s personal offense to this (as stated by some reviewers over covid & vaccines), it’s more telling of the reader, not the author.
This story serves as a reminder that beliefs can cause people to rationalize their most horrific acts-very relevant to the current state of things.

Co authors CNN, MSNBC, and the Biden team.

Never struggled to get through a King book. The constant labeling as anyone that doesn’t think Trump is the devil is an ignorant racist. And those that didn’t take a vaccine they didn’t need are racist and stupid. Also you can’t drive while black i am reminded of constantly. Sucks! I have King tattoos. Don’t know if I can tolerate another. Sad.

Amazing

Once again King knocks it out of the park. The symbolism in this book was visceral on so many levels. Personally loved the new narrator’s take on Holly’s voice and expression. Highly recommend.

Once again, Stephen king delivers

WARNING you won’t be able to put this book down until you read it from cover to cover.
In classic King style, he brings back a familiar character and expands the scope of the character.
It’s a fantastic read .

Politics, politics, politics!!!!

I couldn't even enjoy the story for all the COVID and political crap. Seriously! I wish Mr King could have just written a story, maybe mentioned it was during COVID a couple of times, get in his digs at the right a few times, then LET IT GO. We get that he thinks all conservatives are idiots, and that all liberals are of the highest intelligence order. Cramming it down our throats for the entire story was way too much. I almost stopped listening to it multiple times because of this rhetoric. I'm going to read the reviews FIRST next time.

Too much politics, great story

I liked the story and the performance of Justine Lupe, televisions Holly. King needs to ease up on the politics. I don't particularly care for the preaching and I am pretty sure he insulted about 60 to 70 million people in this one .
