About this listen

Neither woman can stop thinking about their perfect first love from so many years ago. Nothing else compares to what they had with each other. An emotional second chance holiday romance from the best-selling author of Her Royal Bodyguard.

In 1995, Jo and Carole fell wildly in love and lust, running around the countryside as teenagers.

Tragedy struck, and the two girls were torn apart.

Every year since, they see each other only on Christmas day - and always on Christmas day - when Carole comes home for Christmas. Each year, they are polite, yet distant.

Twenty-five years of pain and loss have passed, and Carole and Jo are all grown up. Can they find a way to heal their wounds and the distance between them and rekindle the greatest love either of them have ever known?

Love transcends time

I cried for Jo and all that life threw at her. After all the hardships and distance they endured love won out. Their bond was enough to over come the odds. I read the book last year and loved it. Now having a narrator just added more feeling to the story. I like the cover of the book better. I plan to listen it again next Christmas.

Her Christmas Carole

This was a beautiful second-chance holiday romance.

Carole and Jo were young and so in love, but torn apart too quickly. Throughout the years, they only see each other at Christmas with cordial greetings and distant glances. Twenty years later, they no longer can deny what is still between them.

This was a short one, written very well because I felt the pain and sadness the characters went through. The timeline kept flashing back to their youth - illustrating their love and teenage passion for each other. Beautiful story between Carole and Jo. ❤️

Poignant Christmas tale of love surviving distance, harsh parents, and financial hardship

Not a sappy Hallmark movie-style story, but the harsh reality of the lack of social acceptance of lesbian love 25 years ago in rural England finally being overcome by an enduring, almost magical, connection between Carol and Jo-Jo. Only wish it were longer.
