About this listen
Samuel Morrison, a farmer from Iowa, is in need of a wife and a mother for Lizzie, his three-year old daughter. He reads an article from Massachusetts advertising mail order brides. He writes to the agency stating he's looking for a partner who will work by his side and, hopefully, come to care for him and be a loving mother to Lizzie.
Hannah Brown responds to his letter. Though she doesn't say too much about herself, Samuel decides to take a chance and asks her to come to Iowa.
This woman is everything he wants in a wife and more - or so he thinks. Hannah has a secret that, if revealed, could devastate their future.
If Hannah tells Samuel, will he send her away? She could lose all she's come to cherish. Is Hannah willing to take that chance?

Story
Sam Cooke gave up the notion of finding anyone from Clear Creek to marry. What available women there were, were either too young or too old, and heaven help him if his mother, Belle Cooke, got his matchmaking Aunt Sadie to help find him a bride. No, some things a man had to do on his own. But when he travels east on business to fetch his mail-order bride, little did he know what sort of hi-jinx awaited him on the journey home with her!

Great story
Loved this take on the mail order brides. I liked how it worked out for everyone. It was a good story and told in such terms that you knew what was happening without it being shoved down your throat. One lady changes identity with another. they both choose different paths and face adversity. Yet in the end they both find love. This is a good feel good story that will keep you listening until the end. Well worth the credit and the narrator did justice to all of the characters.

LIFE IS NOT ABOUT RULES BUT RELATIONSHIPS
I enjoyed this addition to the American Mail-Order Brides series, and each book will read well as a stand-alone. I loved all the mystery and secrets, and yet secrets have a way of causing issues. One man, Samuel Morrison, seeking a wife and mother for his little girl will finally take the plunge and send for a mail-order bride to come to Iowa. Two women, meeting by chance, each with a different want or need will play a role in this tale.
Maddie Peters had a good lift until her father took ill and she and her mother had to take on more responsibilities around their small farm. Eventually, he was able to work again, but he worked for others, and then his death will shatter mother and daughter. But when her mother decides to marry another, they go from existing to fear, and their situation is dire. With her mother dying, her stepfather a drunk—an attempted rape—and his death will have Maddie fleeing. Meeting Hannah Brown at the railway station will bring about a change and future.
The story is full of secrets that haunt Maddie as she pretends to be Samuel’s mail-order bride, Hannah. Falling in love with his daughter, and she is very attracted to Samuel and developing feelings for him. His family thinks the world of her, but her lie is hanging over her head. What will happen when Samuel learns she has deceived him?
The story will have several intense moments of life and death, that keep the pages turning as it unfolds. What will Maddie and Samuel do when the past comes knocking on their door? The story is a sweet clean romance with plenty of mystery, suspense, angst, and offers forgiveness and new beginnings.

What a great addition to this series
You have to wonder how many times brides change places with other women. This was a very cute listen, it has a little bit of everything in it from mystery, heartbreak and the unknown of what will happen when untruths come out. Hannah doesn't want to be a mail order bride and to her liking another woman is willing to take her place. Maddie needs a new life and is willing to take her place but as we all know when hiding things they have a way to come back and bite you. It is bad when Samuel finds out she isn't Hannah and things don't go very well. What about the real Hannah well that could turn out bad when she turns up.
I thought this was a believable story with a lot of emotions, very entertaining, there is some humor, danger and a lot of unanswered questions. Lizzie is a sweetheart just a very darling little girl she will steal your heart. I loved the plot and the characters, doc is something else for sure. This is one I will listen to again.
I thought the narrator did a wonderful job, she gives true emotions, really knows how to tell a store that you get lost in. Her character voices are wonderful. There are no background noise, no repeating of words and no volume change. I always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. It was an audio that I didn't want to end. I really liked her normal voice, she really gave thought to this before she started.

Mail Order Bride....with a Twist.
This is a sweet and enjoyable Mail Order Bride Story. Samuel is a lonely widower who is in need of a wife to help care for his little daughter. He answers an advertisement for a Mail Order Bride and Hannah responds to his letter. This sweet clean story has some twists and kept my interest throughout. I recommend this book to all who enjoy a good heartfelt story with good narration.

Cute story
The story is very cute. It has more than a few surprises and suspenseful moments so I couldn't put it down. The characters are wonderful. I have only two small complaints. There is too much modern language that slips through although most of the book is written in the vernacular of the period. And descriptions sound like a checklist and are often contradictory. Still, the story is well worth reading.
The narrator is wonderful. she does a beautiful job with subtle intonation to capture the different attitudes of various characterz.
