About this listen

The wonder of Watership Down collides with the horror of a zombie apocalypse in an adventure unlike any you’ve seen before in Good Boy, the debut novella from a new voice in horror fiction, Thomas R. Clark.

“I bite, I shake, I pull, and I tear. It's how I fight, and today it's how I die.”

The brain worm plague decimated the human population, destroying civilization as man knew it. Infected animals turned into bloodthirsty killing machines, spreading the diseased worms animating their bodies.

A year later, an intrepid Jack Russell terrier leads a diverse fellowship of animal companions struggling to stay alive in this apocalyptic world. When the safety of their lair is compromised, the motley pack embarks on a dangerous journey to find a new home.

They soon learn infected squirrels and bats aren't the only threats in this horrifying new world, where only the cunning and strong will endure. But the biggest fight of all will be the importance of having...

A name.

Pure gem

A different kinda life, death, and survival story... Surpassingly evocative and thoughtful... Think Walking Dead meets Watership Down and Plague Dogs...

Not for sensitive animal lover

This book was well written, cleverly designed and plotted, very original, and well narrated. That said, I wish I hadn’t listened to it. It was just too sad. My husband and I listened together and we both just bawled and bawled. We loved Tufo’s The Book of Riley series - also pets escaping the zombie apocalypse - but while thrilling and filled with near escapes and daring deeds, Riley was enough realism without being too much. This book was way too much for gentle hearted animal lovers. It was a great story though if you don’t mind a very grim ending and are made of a bit tougher stuff than us.

Incredible Journey Meets The Walking Dead

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC for "Good Boy" but this audiobook version is even more incredible. My only complaint remains the same, I wish there was more! I'm looking forward to reading and listening to what comes next. I'm still chilled by this story, and I still cried at the end. You hit all the right emotional notes and the narrator did a fantastic job of bringing it even more to life. Excellent story, you won't be disappointed (though have tissues ready).
