About this listen

If we are to believe many modern commentators, science has squeezed God into a corner, killed and then buried him with its all-embracing explanations. Atheism, we are told, is the only intellectually tenable position, and any attempt to reintroduce God is likely to impede the progress of science. In this stimulating and thought-provoking audiobook, John Lennox invites us to consider such claims very carefully. Is it really true, he asks, that everything in science points towards atheism? Could it be possible that theism sits more comfortably with science than atheism? Has science buried God or not? Now updated and expanded, God's Undertaker is an invaluable contribution to the debate about science's relationship to religion.

Lennox makes solid and logical arguments throughout this book albeit not as succinct as some listeners may like.

At times some were difficult to follow and could have benefited from some humour. But after all Lennox is a mathematician.

The only significant criticism however was the narrator. His slightly whispered tone and odd pronouncing of certain phrases had a somewhat robotic (think HAL in 2001 a Space Odyssey) feel. Which in an eleven hour book can grow tiresome.

Compelling and very insightful

I cant handle the narrator, I was really looking forward to the audiobook but cant get past the 1st chapter with this narrator. A real shame.

Good book terrible narrator

An excellent review of the arguments from science in understandable language for the broad public.

Where does God's Undertaker: Has Science Buried God? rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

John Lennox is one of my favorites: preacher/teacher/defender of the Faith. This reader, however, would be much better reading in another genre. I love the audible books but this one I will read myself.

He needs a reader with some energy.

In spite of its well developed, fascinating proposition, it is almost impossible to concentrate on thIs audio book; the terrible, mispronounced, ear-jarring narration ostensibly delivered by some badly programmed, uneducated robot, makes listening downright painful.
I want my credit back.

Intensely interesting book, HORRIBLE narration

Excellent book! Dr Kennox does what he does best, taking what science has learned about life and discussing what they mean in terms of science and faith. He has a rather unique perspective because of his experiences, discussions, debates. etc, with wide range of beliefs, agnostics and atheists included--and all with grace and good humor. I wish he were narrating his own books but this was fine.

One of his best

Dr Lennox does it again. He has become well known for defending the Christian Faith against the New Atheists. If we listen to them we would see that all science leads us to believe that Atheism is the only answer. Lennox lines up the argument against such beliefs. He lays out in a thoughtful and thought provoking way the evidence pointing to a Creator God who has made himself known in space and time. And that science and faith are not incompatible
Worthy read.

Science and God

amazing content but it's complex material and as others have noted, the narrator is tough. I'd still listen to the book due to it increasing my chances of actually completing it by 10x! But I think I need a physical copy to perform followup reading.

Great book but I recommend the physical copy

Easy to follow, well explained progression in the scientific facts and ideas behind the brilliant authors John's statements.

Evidence for intelligence as the cause of life

As other reviewers have noted, the mispronunciations are distracting and annoying, and really detract from an otherwise good overview of the science-faith debate. (“He puts the wrong emPHASis on the wrong sylLABeI.”) I somehow made it through to the end...but I’m looking forward to re-reading the actual book, which I’ve already ordered. I would recommend the book, but not the audiobook.

Great book. Terrible narration.
