Acerca de esta escucha

The scientist who has been dubbed the “Father of Intelligent Design” and author of the groundbreaking book Darwin’s Black Box contends that recent scientific discoveries further disprove Darwinism and strengthen the case for an intelligent creator.

In his controversial best-seller Darwin’s Black Box, biochemist Michael Behe challenged Darwin’s theory of evolution, arguing that science itself has proven that intelligent design is a better explanation for the origin of life. In Darwin Devolves, Behe advances his argument, presenting new research that offers a startling reconsideration of how Darwin’s mechanism works, weakening the theory’s validity even more.

A system of natural selection acting on random mutation, evolution can help make something look and act differently. But evolution never creates something organically. Behe contends that Darwinism actually works by a process of devolution - damaging cells in DNA in order to create something new at the lowest biological levels. This is important, he makes clear, because it shows the Darwinian process cannot explain the creation of life itself. “A process that so easily tears down sophisticated machinery is not one which will build complex, functional systems,” he writes.

In addition to disputing the methodology of Darwinism and how it conflicts with the concept of creation, Behe reveals that what makes intelligent design unique - and right - is that it acknowledges causation. Evolution proposes that organisms living today are descended with modification from organisms that lived in the distant past. But intelligent design goes a step further, asking: What caused such astounding changes to take place? What is the reason or mechanism for evolution? For Behe, this is what makes intelligent design so important.

Good narration.
very enlightening.
question everything... it's a travesty that challenges to evolution cannot be even mentioned in public schools... censorship?

surprising challenge to the evolutionary orthodoxy

A breath of fresh air!!
Logical reasoning, very rare this days!!
Well structured, and written book, addresses comments and critics of his earlier books.

Excellent

I flew through this book. Michael Behe is considered the father of the Intelligent Design movement, and as such faces a barrage of criticism for promoting a view outside of mainstream scientific consensus. It appears he is up to the task.

Behe is a biology professor with a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, so he is speaks from his field when he points out serious problems in the view that Darwin's theory of evolution can explain the origins of the life we see today above the level of species and genera. He proposes the alternative view that life was in fact intelligently designed, and handles objections with surprising confidence and clarity. He supports his arguments with reference to large, widely accepted scientific studies and logic.

In addition to being well-argued, the book is entertaining and occasionally funny. I hadn't even finished before I ordered a second copy to give to a friend.

Fascinating and well-written!

Enjoyable overview of most current findings in molecular biology and how new findings do shed even more light on glaring shortcoming of the theory of evolution.

Darwin Devolves builds upon Behe’s arguments in the Edge of Evolution after a decade of experimental research has weighed in. The verdict: both mutation and natural selection are reductive. Instead of generating new function or genetic information, selection and mutation delete function and mute pre-existing genetic information. As Behe shows, evolution needs to be more than reductive to explain the diversity of life. It needs a mechanism that can produce all genetic information on earth. Instead, as demonstrated by lab experiments, the Darwinian mechanism consistently comes up short. Even more damaging, as mutations accumulate, species becomes more brittle and less adaptable. This is a nightmare for Darwinism. Behe also examines rebuttals to his first book, Darwin’s Black Box in the light of more than 20 years of research. Well written and highly recommended.

Well reasoned and persuasive

Simply fantastic, Again. life is generally a complicated thing, but it almost always follows rules.

The evidence is there

loved the information and new point if view. i think at one point he mentioned a common sense approach to science the main stream scientists with Darwin blinders dont have.

Thought provoking!

Darwin Devolves asks tough questions analyzing modern evolutionary theory's validity in light of strong new evidence. Author Michael Behe does a good job of presenting the reader (or listener) with the results of various research studies which test whether natural selection and random mutation can produce new biological function, or merely breakdown already existing functions in a devolutionary spiral. He confronts the scientific community with with the question, if Darwinian processes can't account for life's diversity then what can?

I found the book refreshing because it invites scrutiny and inspires debate as a good scientific paper should. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to challenge their own intrinsic views on the biological foundation of life to test whether blind random forces created our world, or it's the result of an intelligent designer.

Though provoking and open minded

The information in this book makes you wonder how Darwinism can skate by with so many unanswered questions. No one questions it, or even works to prove it. It’s just taken as fact. Obviously there are lots of issues to be addressed…
