About this listen

Georgie is back and hanging the stockings with care when a murder interrupts her Christmas cheer in this all-new installment in the New York Times best-selling Royal Spyness series from Rhys Bowen.

Georgie is excited for her first Christmas as a married woman in her lovely new home. She suggests to her dashing husband, Darcy, that they have a little house party, but when Darcy receives a letter from his aunt Ermintrude, there is an abrupt change in plans. She has moved to a house on the edge of the Sandringham estate, near the royal family, and wants to invite Darcy and his new bride for Christmas. Aunt Ermintrude hints that the queen would like Georgie nearby. Georgie had not known that Aunt Ermintrude was a former lady-in-waiting and close confidante of her royal highness. The letter is therefore almost a royal request, so Georgie, Darcy, and their Christmas guests, Mummy, Grandad, Fig, and Binky, all head to Sandringham.

Georgie soon learns that the notorious Mrs. Simpson, mistress to the prince of Wales, will also be in attendance. It is now crystal clear to Georgie that the queen expects her to do a bit of spying. There is tension in the air from the get-go, and when Georgie pays a visit to the queen, she learns that there is more to her request than just some simple eavesdropping. There have been a couple of strange accidents at the estate recently. Two gentlemen of the royal household have died in mysterious circumstances, and another has been shot by mistake during a hunt. Georgie begins to suspect that a member of the royal family is the real target, but her investigation will put her new husband and love of her life, Darcy, in the crosshairs of a killer.

Another good story

I love Georgie and Darcy. This is a fun book since they are together for the entire story. I still miss Katherine Kellgren as narrator, but Jasmine is growing on me. If you are a Spyness fan, I recommend...if you are just a fan of sweet Christmas romance (with a bit of cosy murder) then also I recommend. I hope Ms. Bowen keeps them coming!!

Great stories, wonderful narration

I read all of Rhys Bowen's books that I can find. I love her writing style, her characters and her gift for developing mysteries. Jasmine Blackborow is fabulous as the narrator! Her "voices" go well with the characters, and I can tell who is speaking the moment she begins a speech. I hope that there will be more in the Her Spyness. Series

Delightful as always

This series has slowly surpassed Mrs Polifax as my favorite series with an amateur detective/spy. I love the historical tidbits that Rhys includes at the end to let us know which parts are factually based.

Wonderful Performance

I hope all Georgie & Darcy fans would agree that this was a truly wonderful performance from Jasmine. And for me I felt like this was the Georgie and Darcy of old. Once again Rhys, thank you I very much enjoyed this book.

Welcome Back!

How delightful to find My lady, Darcy, Queeny, Figgy and all the other old friends I have dearly missed!
This is a delicious story with lots of twists and unexpected turns. I couldn't put the book down and listened to the story while on a long drive to visit old friends. real ones.
As usual, I was sad when the story ended and I had to close the book and say goodbye to my old literary friends. looking forward to another adventure of the Royal Spyness series.

You don’t need to wait until Christmas for this story.

Rhys Bowen continue writing great historical fiction mysteries. I loved every word of this book. The characters were delightful. The plot was irresistible and Georgie and Darcy have an amazing marriage.

Queen Mary sends a Royal invitation to Christmas at Sandringham via Darcy’s beloved Aunt Ermintrude. (What a name!) The couple had already invited family members to celebrate the holiday in their home. Therefore, Georgie’s guests, minus her father, leave their splendid home and travel to celebrate with Ermintrude. Of course, Georgie is soon invited to meet with Queen Mary who has another mystery for Georgie to solve.

I highly recommend this story.

They are back!

We’ve been building back up since Four Funerals/Cheetahs, which were series lows for me. This one was fabulous and reminds me in need to start pacing myself a bit as I will be without my constant Georgie companion for a bit soon. Thank you Rhys and Jasmine!
