About this listen

When M.J. Holliday and the crew of her cable TV show, Ghoul Getters, venture to the haunted ruins of Dunlow Castle in Ireland, drawn by the legend of hidden treasure, they hope the road will rise up to meet them, that the wind will always be at their backs-and that the resident phantom won't push them off a cliff. If they treasure their lives, M.J. and her ghost busters need to get the drop on the menacing phantom.

Best ghost hunter out there

If you could sum up Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls in three words, what would they be?

spooky castle, treasure

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would say Gilly, his off the cuff remarks to MJ most of the time have me cracking up.

What does Eileen Stevens bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

gives each of the characters life

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I found my self wanting to listen to this book during any free time that I had and finished it quickly only to dowload the next one in the series and listen to that one too.

Any additional comments?

I would recommend that you check out the previous titles in this series. Not because they aren't stand alone books all by themselves but the other books are also really good and you get a little bit more back ground on the characters.

Where did the spark go?

In this episode of Ghoul Getters, MJ Holiday and team travel to Ireland to face down the most malevolent demon yet and in search of real treasure! Stay tuned for the exciting review by Paranormaly Yours!

MJ was duped into doing an investigation on a haunted castle in Ireland by her producer Gopher with gold bulian. Little did MJ know that the spirit haunting the castle wasn't your ordinary ghost, in fact, it was the mother of all hell broken loose! As soon as the team arrives to the castle, Gopher goes missing, and they have their first encounter with the demon. Everyone gets out by the skin of their teeth and immediately go into recon mode. Naturally the first thing they do is go to the local authorities for help, but to no avail. They have very specific rules about the castle and it's visitors, and that is enter at your own risk. The police will not enter the grounds.....PERIOD. So, left faced with their own devices, MJ and her crew are on the hunt.

Lets start with the mess that is MJ's team. Heath, who is a medium like MJ, and Gilley her best friend and IT guy. Heath is wonderful, patient, understanding and helpful, Gilley not so much. It amazes me that MJ has been able to not only get jobs ghost busting, but complete them without getting killed due to Gilley's unfortunate narcissistic personalty. He is so thoughtless and self centered that he always manages to make things way harder for everyone else than they should be. Gopher, her producer, he is so greedy and out for numero uno, (just as bad as Gilley at times) that he intentionally puts MJ and Heath in harms way to get the “money shot” for the show. The fact that he is the one to go missing serves as instant karma, and makes me feel somewhat better. Overall it was a poorly planned out trip and investigation, and it wasn't until MJ took charge of the situation that things started happening. Too bad MJ and Gilley didn't have the money themselves to do their own show!

This is the best Paranormal Mystery Series, but their was just something about this case that bugged me enough to only give it 3 stars. MJ is a very strong medium, with a heart full of compassion. Her best friend Gilley keeps her real, grounded, and reminds me of her tragic past, where she comes from. Heath is just adorable. I love his character, and role in all this and I hope he takes that step and snatches MJ up before it's too late!

Narrator Review

Eileen Stevens narrates for Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls. I have not had the pleasure of listening to Eileen before, so this was a fresh new experience for me. Up until this book, I have been reading them, so I had my own ideals of how each character's voice was. This may have been a mistake, I'm not sure yet. I thought Eileen for MJ was ok, but for Gilley she was way off. During the book, it seemed to me at times that Eileen changed Gilley's voice, it was distinct enough for me to notice, and not like it at all! I thought she did a pretty good job with the Irish accents, much better than she had for the Americans! I'm still on the fence about Eileen for this gig. Like I said, I had envisioned these characters in my head already from the four previous books. I will give her another chance, but for now I give Eileen Stevens 3 stars.

gil please

gils has such a whinny funny side but man he can grate my last nerve. he seems to forget that mj is why he has a job. please man up or at least be gay enough to have manners. i have never met a gay man that is so whinny rude and self absorbed as gil. he is funny and does make the stories but he has gone to far and takes away from what i think is right. i love the book and the story just a few tweeks on gil would be better. ready for the next one.

I like a story that surprises me

What made the experience of listening to Ghouls, Ghouls, Ghouls the most enjoyable?

The plot kept moving along; never a dull moment!

Have you listened to any of Eileen Stevens’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just the Ghost Hunter series and I've enjoyed all her performances. I like her voice and she changes her voice to match the character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I had to backtrack sometimes when other people insisted on speaking to me!

Any additional comments?

I like a book or movie that I can't figure out in the first 3 chapters or 20 minutes, respectively. Also, I'm a hopeless romantic where castles in Europe are concerned so the setting drew me in and the story kept me going. I can see me listening to this again as a castle/mystery go-to book.

The only scene I found a little over the top was the fight between Gilley and M.J. that ended up trashing the kitchen of the bed and breakfast. These are supposed to be adults so a little misbehavior would have been believable, but this scene went too far I think.

The ultimate test for me was that I couldn't figure out who had Gopher until VL was ready for me to know. Well done!

A "character" "Gilly" completely ruins EVERY story

I've never been so put off by an author's choice than in this series and I LOVE VICTORIA LAURIE! It's just a never-ending farce of tension with the absurdity of this character trashing EVERYTHING. This character is an amalgam of every character flaw and caricature of someone "light on the carpet." I've held my tongue in this series so far, but, one scene (and character - in every scene) in this story(ies) is so ridiculous, immature... I just can't even begin to understand why this character was chosen to be a major role in these books. I would so much rather have a "bad guy" create the "angst" in a story. This story will have great moments of exploration, discovery, mystery, suspense and then just when you are enjoying the story's progress, there is an inane scene with Gilly that interrupts the momentum in the most grating and annoying way. It is so frustrating.

Disaponted

I enjoyed the series and each of the story line but disappointed that she chose Heath in stead of Steven. Do not get me wrong I like Heath but I like Steven better. You can love a rich guy just as well as a poor guy. She is independent to much some times. There is a line being independent and a line of being stupid. To much pride can be your down call. She never let Steven spend his money on her. He offer why not accept what he offer he had more than enough money and willing to share. Yep very disappointed she to Heath over Steven.
