Publisher's summary

I should have known everything was going to change when she walked into my tattoo shop...

Timid as hell and gorgeous to the extreme. I knew better than even thinking about touching a woman like that.

My life is dangerous.

My calling wicked.

Willing to cross any line to protect the innocent.

I thought I’d never see her again until my little boy tumbled and busted his lip, and I found her working at the doctor’s office.

The woman who’d taken possession of my thoughts.

When it becomes clear she’s in trouble, I offer up a deal.

Twenty questions to earn her trust.

Too bad trusting me is the last thing she should do.

With one kiss, I’m addicted. With one night, we’re falling into a passion greater than either of us has ever known.

The voices in my head warn I can never keep her. She can’t know the secret life I lead.

Only she’s keeping a secret, too.

And I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means losing everything…

You don't want to miss this audio by AL Jackson!!

Moonlit Ridge book 1!

This is the first audio I have heard that has Austin Stone in it and it was perfect! New series, new author (for me) and a new male voice to put an entirely new spin on all the other characters I have ever listened to! Andi Arndt is one of my all-time favs so this was a great combination! Both of these characters really brought to life River and Charleigh’s story!

Tropes:
Broody Single Dad
Secret Society
Touch her & Die
He falls first
Band of Brothers/Ex-motorcycle club
Morally Gray Hero
Small Town

I am obsessed with River and Charleigh! This is the first book I have had a chance to read/listen to for AL Jackson and I am so glad that I received the audio as it made it to my speaker faster than any of her books in my TBR!!
Charleigh is running from her past living in hiding in the small town of Moonlit Ridge from her ex.
Needing a safe place to call home she decides to stay which then puts her in River’s shop when she decides she wants to get a tattoo.
River has had his share of trauma in the past but now being a single-dad, he is enjoying life with his son as best he can.

This book has twists and turns that you will not see coming! AL Jackson gives us her all in this one, just as she does the others!
AL Jackson surprised me as I know she is an incredible writer from all her reviews and fan base but this was beginning to end, sitting in my chair doing absolutely nothing until it was finished!

Beautiful Story

A.L. Jackson can do no wrong to me. Her work is genius and I love each and every story. This one moved a little slow for me, that is the ONLY reason for 4*'s instead of 5. Worth the credit though, no doubt.

River didn't know that when Charleigh walked into his tattoo shop that day that his life would change forever. He didn't think that he would see her again. Until his son gets hurt and he finds her working at the doctor's office. When River finds out she's in trouble he does everything he can to earn her trust.

First off, I recommend going in blind for this one. There are things revealed about Charleigh's past that as the reader we're in the dark until later. The pacing was good and the story jumps right into the main plot. I felt the sparks right away between Charleigh and River. I loved River's protective nature and Charleigh's willingness to open up to River and Raven. I adored River's son, Nolan. He was a happy go lucky kid and easily made friends with Charleigh.

The audiobook narration is phenomenal! Performed in dual narration by Austin Stone and Andi Arndt. Austin was amazing as River. This is my second audiobook of Austin's and his voice just draws you into the story. He exuded River's confidence and each word and dialogue was emotionally impactful. Andi embodied Charleigh. She conveyed Charleigh's uneasiness with starting a new life and showed Charleigh's vulnerable side with a soft tone. When the huge twist was revealed Andi really shined in that scene. I loved how everything played out. The last few chapters definitely had me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend the audiobook!!

A fantastic start to a new series!!

What a phenomenal start to a new series! I absolutely love romantic suspense and this book was so hard to put down. Our MMC River is a broody tattoo artist and our FMC Charleigh, is new to the town and on the run from her past. The chemistry they have from the first time they meet is 😮‍💨 River's son Nolan won my heart. 🥹He was just absolutely precious! I love the found family and I am SOOOO excited for the rest of this series! 😍

ohhhh p.s. The plot twist towards the end of the book had my jaw on the floor! 😱

The audiobook is narrated by Andi Ardnt and Austin Stone and WOOOOW these two together were phenomenal. They nailed Charleigh and River. 💜

Read if you love:
- romantic suspense
- found family
- single dad
- woman on the run
- morally grey mmc

Amazing start for a new series!

River Tate is living a "quiet" life, running his tattoo shop and raising his little boy with the help of his sister. He has a troubled past, having escaped life in a motorcycle club in LA. It's this troubled past that leads him to live a secret life with the help of his friends.
One day, Charleigh enters his shop, wanting to tattoo a touching phrase on her arm. He feels an instant connection to her, but he knows his secret life prevents him from pursuing any deeper relationships. But to his surprise, he finds out that she's his baby sister's new best friend.
Charleigh is broken. We can tell that she's a woman on the run. She knows she should stay away from anyone, let alone this mountain of a man and his adorable little boy, but the pull is irresistible - to both of them.
Secrets and hurts could keep them apart, but apparently the Universe put them in each other's paths for a reason. From here to to eternity.
I was immediately hooked by this story! I loved that it's connected to my favorite series, Redemption Hills, and that we catch up a bit with some characters (I love the Lawsons!). You get immediately invested in the secrets and in the emotional small town romance. Like in all A. L. Jackson's book, you fall in love with the characters and this one is no exception. Yep, River is as morally gray as it gets, but let's just say he's justifiably so.
Narrated dual style by Andi Arndt and Austin Stone. Andi is phenomenal as the woman who wants desperately to escape her past and who's carrying the worst pain a person can carry. Austin embodies the alpha, "touch her and die" hero who will take a bullet for those he loves.
Great kickstart for a new series!

SPEECHLESS!!

SPEECHLESS! Charleigh and River grabbed a hold of my heart and never let it go. I absolutely LOVED these two so much. Jam packed with ALL THE FEELS you will want more and more. River may be a dark, broody single father but when he meets Charleigh there is just something that pulls her to him. As the story unfolds you will learn how tragically broken Charleigh truly is. On the outside you may not see it but River does. He knows she hiding secrets but so is he. The love these two share is addicting , a balm to heal the scars hidden beneath the surface. Have those tissues ready and get ready for one twist you won’t see coming.

Grief, Love, Escape

This book….oh my this book. My jaw was dropped with all the plot twists and action in the last 100 pages. Tattoos, piercings 😉, tension, running, tragedy, motorcycles, new identity, safety, spice and the list goes on. River & Charleigh are my new favorite fiction couple. 5 stars ⭐️ all day long! I’m not sure what to read after this. My heart is still in their world. 🖤🩷

A haunting beginning to this series!

A. L. Jackson kicks off her new Moonlit Ridge series with her signature brand of angst-filled romance!

Charleigh left every dream behind in search of freedom and peace. River is trying to atone for his own sins and the sins of others. The moment she walked through his door, their fates became inextricably entwined.

Andi Arndt portrayed Charleigh’s wary hope and shy assuredness like a pro while Austin Stone dialed in to River’s protective instincts.

I loved seeing characters from A. L. Jackson’s Redemption Hills series feature as part of the origin story for River and his crew. I can’t wait to listen to more in this series!

Woman on the run meets Morally gray single dad

Charleigh is on the run. She’s finally in a small town Moonlit Ridge where she’s a medical assistant and keeping to herself. She’s made one friend, the florist below her apartment and that’s it. She decided to finally get a tattoo. So she enter the shop late one evening and meets River.

River is the single dad tattoo’d bad boy who is loyal to the ones he loves. His son, his sister and his club. Fascinated by Charleigh he tries to get to her but she bolts anytime he’s close. Until one day at a street festival he meets his sister’s new friend. Who happens to be Charleigh. Throughout the day he keeps his distance but when he realizes she has a freaked out face and runs home, he knows he needs to figure out why and what he can do to fix it.

River is the backbone that Charleigh needs. Charleigh is the love and tender person River needs. These two are so opposite but mom’s perfectly together.

First time listening to AL Jackson and I'm obsessed!

Plot: 4.5📍
Spice: 3 ❤️‍🔥
Overall: 4.5 🌟
Narration: 4 🎧

I loved so much of this story but I felt a little something was missing.

River is the absolute epitome of bad boy but for all the right reasons! There's a beautiful subplot (hinted at early in the story!) that River and his friends are a huge part of and I really, really wanted more of that.

We slowly hear Charliegh's backstory and I felt like it need just a bit more. There seemed to be some gaps in the backstory that needed filling. And Charliegh, yeah absolute sweetest thing!

These two and the rest of their friends are easily the kind of people you wish would always be your friends and family!

The voices for the narration were stunning! I loved the vulnerability Andi brings and the brash, roughness Austin exudes. But, and this is a "me" thing, I really wanted the female voice to be used during the male's POV and vice versa. It never sounds right (To Me!) when the male narrator does a falsetto or the female tries to do a deep male tone. I'm sure it means a lot more splicing and editing but it always sounds so incredibly smooth when done that way.

Overall, those missing pieces didn't detract from story, but it did leave me wishing for a teensy more. Regardless, I am absolutely feral for River, his crew, and I'm DEFINITELY going to be going back thru this author's back catalog!!!
