About this listen

A journalist begins to question everything she knows about her mother’s murder in a startling novel of suspense by the New York Times bestselling author of The Body Reader.

Culpable in an exposé gone tragically wrong, investigative journalist Jupiter Bellarose takes her boss’s advice: head back to her hometown for a fluff piece and get her world in balance. But in Savannah, the past is waiting.

Twenty years ago Jupiter’s mother, actress and celebrated beauty Marie Nova, was murdered, leaving many in her wake: Jupiter’s father, who has erased memories of his wife’s murder with alcohol. The matriarch of the cosmetics company who helped make Marie a star—and who takes every opportunity to reopen old wounds. Then there’s the fragile cop with blood on his hands, and the killer whose confession no longer seems convincing.

With so many lingering questions, Jupiter must revisit the grisly event that has influenced every decision in her life. Maybe her homecoming will bring closure.

Or maybe the worst is yet to come.

1st half =5 stars, 2nd half = 4 stars. Total =4.5

This audiobook had me hooked from the beginning. It was well written with a deeply developed main character with strong supporting characters. In the first half the "history" is explained and the mystery identified. The second half reveals several suspects and scenarios for the mystery. In fact, the alternative explanations are so numerous as to be slightly overwhelming. I still very much enjoyed the ride. It seemed like this could be the set-up for a series. If future episodes are as good, MS Frazier will be one of my favorite authors.

LOVE

I waited all year for this to come out and it did not disappoint! so very twisty, I kept changing my guesses all throughout the book. I really liked how all the different relationships between family members came into play. I think this is a standalone book but I would be happy to read more about these characters!

A very enjoyable listen

It's no masterpiece, but I did enjoy it overall. Good twists of the plot, and good performance.

So worth it!

Took me a minute to get into this one due to distractions, not at all the book’s fault. When I was able to focus I couldn’t stop. Twists and turns to keep me guessing and a main character that was damaged and strong.

#abrknpoet reviews Found Object

Found Object by Anne Frasier is a gripping novel of suspense that explores the complex aftermath of a brutal murder. The protagonist, Jupiter Bellarose, is an investigative journalist who returns to her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, to face the unresolved questions surrounding her mother’s death. Marie Nova was a famous actress and beauty icon who was stabbed to death twenty years ago, leaving behind a trail of suspects, secrets and lies. Jupiter must confront her estranged father, the powerful matriarch of the cosmetics company that made her mother a star, the troubled cop who investigated the case, and the killer who confessed but may not be telling the truth. As she delves deeper into the past, she uncovers shocking revelations that challenge everything she thought she knew about her mother, herself and the people closest to her.

Frasier delivers a compelling story that keeps the reader hooked until the end. She skillfully creates a vivid atmosphere of Savannah, with its rich history, culture and charm. She also portrays the dark side of fame, beauty and obsession, and how they can destroy lives and relationships. The characters are well-developed and realistic, each with their own flaws, secrets and motivations. Jupiter is a sympathetic heroine who struggles with guilt, grief and anger, but also shows courage, resilience and determination. The plot is fast-paced and full of twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the final reveal.

Found Object is a thrilling and emotional read that will appeal to fans of mystery, thriller and crime fiction. It is a standalone novel that can be enjoyed without reading Frasier’s previous books. However, readers who are familiar with her work will appreciate her signature style of writing, which combines suspense, psychology and emotion. Frasier is a New York Times bestselling author who has won several awards for her novels, including the 2017 Thriller Award for Best Paperback Original for The Body Reader. Found Object is another example of her talent and skill as a storyteller.

Intriguing but fell short

This book had me absolutely hooked until I got about 80% of the way through. The last hour and a half, the story just lost its flow, felt like author was trying to fit too much into those last few chapters. It could have been a really great ending if there were some more depth to that part of the storytelling.

not the best work from this author

it seemed to take a while to get off the ground. But not sure how much of the story was undermined by a lackluster performance.
Nevertheless, I am still eagerly waiting the next book by her. I just hope its a different reader.

Good story and narration!!!

Frasier is a new author to me. This was well written and not predictable. I hated to put it down! And a great narrator!
