About this listen

Jessica Spaulding works for Magnate, her father's multi-billion-dollar investment firm. But her life of privilege comes at a high personal cost, requiring her to keep aspects of herself under wraps.

Magnate's new intern, TJ Blake, leads by example. The sole guardian of her teenage sister, TJ juggles work, graduate school, and debt, never taking "something for nothing."

As TJ discovers there's more to Jess than she lets on, her pride and notions about wealth run headlong against her growing feelings for Jess. Jess starts falling for TJ but doubts she's principled enough for her. When Jess uncovers a dark secret, will she do the right thing, even if it means losing everything - including any chance at love?

Mehhh idk

The narrator did well & I gave 4 stars to the story mostly for originality. It was a sweet love story with a unique plot but the writing itself reached a point of annoyance & made the book feel entirely too long. The uniqueness was completely overwhelmed by the ridiculous overuse of metaphors & analogies literally every other sentence. The MC’s inner monologue just dragged on & on every single scene. I kept skipping forward 2-3 mins just to get to the substance & point of each scene itself because I couldn’t handle it. The book could’ve been half as long with only like 10% of the descriptive metaphors & analogies. I found it distracting. Completely took away from my enjoyment of listening. That’s why I give it 3 stars overall. Only a single love scene that comes almost at the very end that wasn’t exactly steamy...sometimes amateur writing can be balanced with excitement lol idk I just didn’t enjoy this as much as I wanted to because I liked the narrator & the MC Jessica. TJ came off as WAYYYY too proud & bullheaded, which made me view her as immature or at least younger than she was & made her less likable. I was rooting for Jessica :)

Truly a great story

Undoubtably one of the best stories I've read this year. It starts off slow but towards the end and at the end it is an amazing journey. A great read and worth of your time.

Ending could have been better

The ending was odd for me. All this build up then lacked the details to close it out in a way that made sense and gave a sense of finality.

Nice!

While the story is not original, this version is well played. The characters are believeable and likeable. While one characters coming to terms with loving another woman seems to be a bit too easy, it does little to distract from the plot. The narration is good.

Excellent audio!

I really enjoyed For Money or Love. It's a great story set in the world of an investment firm and people with money. You will not like Jessica in the beginning of the book. But she will redeem herself in the end. Even narration by Melissa Sternenberg

A great listen

If you could sum up For Money or Love in three words, what would they be?

Issues worked out.

Which scene was your favorite?

The love scene. The set up and the follow through made it that much more meaningful.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Did a lot of yelling at the characters to puleeaze work through their issues. But that was a good thing. We all have our issues. And they do indeed have the courage to work through their own issues, owning them and leaving what doesn't work behind.

Any additional comments?

Interesting story, good character development, well performed; overall very well done. I found myself cheering for the main characters as they grew into their own skins.

Well

I don’t know how I feel about this one. Story was interesting but initially the characters behavior and attitudes was beyond unbelievable. I’m glad I read her other books first because I absolutely loved them. This was a miss for me.
