About this listen

Thirteen years ago, Henri Fortier left a tumultuous life in France to begin anew in England. His adopted country has become home, and his dearest friends, the Gents, are family. Unfortunately, ties to the past still plague him, and he’s forced to live in near destitution. Henri secretly publishes his poetry to supplement his meager income, but it is both insufficient and risky. A house party with the Gents promises a welcome distraction until he realizes that one of the guests is none other than Nicolette Beaulieu, the woman who stole—and broke—his heart years ago.

Nicolette has traveled to England for reasons far more pressing than a house party. As part of the Marquis de Lafayette’s secret network, she has been tasked with preparing for revolution. Though she has a pristine track record with the organization, her romantic history is far from perfect. This is particularly evident when she is reunited with Henri, the man who once declared his love for her. Drawn together through adventures the Gents have devised, the couple begins to tiptoe toward more tender feelings. But as sinister threats loom from all quarters, it may be too late for Henri and Nicolette’s second chance at love.

Can joy come from disaster?

As always, I have come to love the Gents and those who love them. I want to know what comes next.

Such a darling story!

I have enjoyed all The Gents books, but this might be the best one. The narrator does a great job with the accents, and I appreciated that since she did the first two, she was able to do this one also. Somehow, that makes the continuation of the story better for me. I also love seeing the characters again in each book, and the banter and humor among them that gets better and better with each new character. I am really looking forward to the next book!

Wonderful!

Love this continuation of the Gents series. So many cliff hangers, but I am hopeful we will get the answers in the next book. So interesting reading about this story pre French Revolution.

I love how this book fits in with others in the series and other series from the same author

Sometimes a bit predictable but the story holds your attention with twists and turns leading to the final result

Wonderful Addition to the Series!

The Gents series is one my my absolute favorites! I have listened to books one and two of the series multiple times since their release, and also enjoyed reading the connected novella, which is set at Christmas time and is part of The Holly and the Ivy novella collection.

The author has created such a wonderful and fun set of friends in the Gents and their wives. I would highly recommend reading this series in order, because this particular friend group is introduced so well in book one, Forget Me Not. They became some of my very favorite fictional characters and I am always sad to have to say goodbye to them at the end of each book.

In Fleur de Lis, it was eye opening to see the way both Henri and Aldric were treated by their families. It certainly made for some uncomfortable situations at the house party. It was wonderful to see the entire group of friends back together again, and to have some new characters introduced. Most importantly, Nicolette, whom apparently broke Henri’s heart three years earlier in Paris. I adore second chance love stories and this one did not disappoint. I love this series so much and anxiously await future stories!

Loved it!!

Sarah Eden has done it again! I couldn't put it down!

Following along with these Gents has been a blessing. The family they are for one another reminds me of the family I have had the pleasure to create with my own friends. They truly exemplify brotherly love.

So far, each book's tone reflects the Gent it centers around. Arch Bishop's Fleur de Lis is no different. I cannot comment on if the accents are authentic but they were believable to me and the narrator did a good job maintaining characters throughout.

I will give no spoilers but I eagerly await the next Gents tale and will most definitely take another stroll through Henri's very soon. Who will be next?

I fall in love everytime

She has such unique characters that balance out their strength and weaknesses together and problem solve so beautiful. They are supportive and teasing and honest and vulnerable. InDesign reading this gents series I am seeing how it reflects into the jonquil series and the Lancaster series as well.

I love the Gents

In this story, although I did not cry as much as I have in the past two, I loved the story. The past stories have felt like they ended with resolve with no loose ends. This one left me feeling uneasy and anxiously awaiting the next. Not a cliffhanger, but a couple unresolved issues for the characters. Who will be next? THAT is the question and the next couple stories will tie back to this story.

I loved how Niles “Puppy” and Aldric “The General” played a larger role in this story. Developing their character so that you truly love ALL the gents not just the most outspoken. This story felt more like all the Gents were helping each other not just one or two with background nods from the rest. The play between the characters wasn’t as jovial, but more in line with the quiet strength of the “Archbishop.” I truly loved that Henri was the hero of this story with quiet strength. Insecurities and all. Sarah Eden knows her characters and draws strength from different sources. She has done a beautiful job developing the characters of each of the Gents and their mates. Each member of the group was important in this story!

Super good! I love the gents!

I loved this book! I love the characters and it was a good book. I want more on the newly married Barringtons! There was no word about how they are doing and Kester (not sure on spelling) did not say one word in the whole book. Other than that i loved the story!

Lovely story, a bit slow at the beginning

I always love Sarah Eden. it is fun to learn bits and pieces about each gent and see how their lives intertwine. This one felt a bit slow and repetitive, but with such a lovely narrator I could get through it. Happy ending. I love how each problem wraps up with a bow while still leaving a few questions for me to want to listen to the next book.
