not the right book for audio

I was disappointed with this in a couple of ways. I think it would work better in print, because I too often needed to back up and listen to the last few seconds. Also, there are way too many passing references to his other books; i.e. after referring to a specific medical condition that would modify one's ability to tolerate a fast, he would simply say "refer to my book 'The Bible and (insert medical condition here)' ". This happened many, many times and was distracting. Also, while the philosophy and ideas work well with audio, the specific how-tos do not. I was left wondering whether to get the book in print, or whether it was even worth the trouble. That's disappointing, because I think he has many good points about the health benefits of fasting.

The Bible 101

I was so looking forward to learning about fasting when I bought this title but all I really learned about was:

a: the different quotations in the bible and
b: how if I didn't understand anything fully I could always pick up one of the good doctors other books to clarify what he was talking about

I was so very disappointed. This man was more concerned with trying to sell his religion and his others titles then he was in trying to help someone learn how to fast. A HUGE thumbs down.

waste of money

There were some good facts in the begining, but overall it was a large plate of "buy my other books" with a side of bible thumping.

Not worth it

Very shallow on content.
Full of bible quotations which discredit and disctract from the attempt to explain the scientific benefits of fasting.

A ridiculous number of references to the author's other publications.

Great book for Christians

Great book for healthy fasting and emotional and spiritual wellness. It is also founded in good medicine with a balanced approach.

Fasting in Bible Class

If you are a born-again Christian, this book is for you. You get your daily hour of bible studies and 59 minutes of instruction on the benefits of fasting. I am not a Christian and was offended to have to sit through bible studies class to get the information I was seeking about fasting. I want to buy the non-Christian version that is only 59 minutes of facts about fasting without being told to think about Jesus and be thankful to god while I’m fasting. This book should have has a warning for non-christians. I was constantly fast-forwarding and rewinding to get to the parts I wanted to hear. Can I give this book Zero stars? This author was shamelessly promoting his other books so much, I thought he would ask me for a donation. It would have been funny if it weren’t so annoying. I don’t want “The Bible Cure for Gallstones” or “What Jesus Would Do for a Headache.”
