About this listen

Riley Emerson is probably the last person anyone would expect to be a nanny.

For starters, her life has fallen apart. Her boyfriend just cheated on her. She lives with her mom, and she might have a drinking problem.

But Oliver Brian is desperate. His daughter, Zoe, has refused to go to sleep for anyone else in four years and with his career, Oliver can't always be there for her. Riley is only supposed to watch Zoe for one night, but somehow she gets Zoe to bed on her own. He's so shocked that he offers her a job on the spot.

Riley needs the money, and Oliver needs the time for himself. It’s a match made in Heaven… until feelings get involved.

Failure to Thrive is a standalone full-length romance novel with a nanny, a single father, and a friends-to-lovers trope. Please note this is the special edition of Failure to Thrive complete with bonus scenes and open-door romance.

Enjoyed the story but hated the side characters

The story was enjoyable. The FMC has some issues, but they weren’t un relatable or not average adult stuff. The side characters I absolutely hated. They were terrible to the FMC, made her far worse than she was and were over dramatic a* holes. MMC was great but also a bit clueless but doing best he could. Story line was good, but could have been better with out the “issue” people. Narration was great.

Narrators were great, The story… not so much.

I felt like the romance aspect of this was forced and rushed. I would have liked this story more if the mmc wasn’t constantly letting everyone get into his head and navigate his own emotions. I also would’ve liked if he didn’t say the most horrendous things to her and about her.

It wasn’t great

The MMC voice actor sounded…. off.. when doing female characters voices. The story isnt great either. They don’t communicate pretty much at all and a lot of things that should be really big issues are just brushed to the side. It also explicitly says in the description that it is a standalone but it definitely is not a standalone. The utter dramatics from all the characters made whole book drag on and boring. I would not recommend this book at all.
