Publisher's summary

In this ultimate decluttering guide, you will learn how to unleash the full potential of your home with super simple techniques in just 30 days. Starting from today!

Jennifer Nicole is going to show you the benefits of decluttering and minimizing your mess.

This best-selling guide to decluttering your home from minimalist visionary Jennifer Nicole takes listeners step by step through her revolutionary "Tao of Cleanliness" system for simplifying, organizing, and storing.

Clutter is a physical manifestation of the stress in our lives. Every time we look at it, we feel like failures. It's a constant reminder or our own inadequacy. A cluttered room or a disorganized desktop can often be a sign of something inside of us. A form of mental clutter.

What we want is a sound mind in a sound body.

That ancient Latin aphorism is so right. When our house is cluttered, our mind is cluttered. And it can feel like we are trapped in a continuous cycle.

By tackling the physical clutter problem first, you open the door to breaking that cycle and freeing your mind from that sense of failure or looming stress.

Nobody actually wants to live in a messy home or have routines and habits that hurt our relationships with loved ones. Living this way can make us feel empty and isolated. We end up filling our house with junk to make up for the emptiness in our hearts.

Without realizing it, you could be stuck in this emotionally draining, disorganized cycle right now.

First clue - there are clothes on the floor in between your bedroom and bathroom right now

Second clue - there are seats in your house that you can't sit on without moving something off of them

Third clue - you have an emotional attachment to items you've never used or worn

Easy Minimalist Living

Very basic good advice on de cluttering your home. The good advice could have been in one hour.Basically ,it said ,through narrator Charlee Prescott,to go through each room and think about what you need.It takes you through each step in a very simple fashion.I got to the point though, that if I heard the word 'stuff' just one more time I might scream.

Sensible advice on how to spring-clean their lives

An interesting book with some pretty sound advice on paring down the extra "stuff" that one collects simply by living a modern life. The basic principle seems to be to sell, give away or dispose of anything that you genuinely haven't made use of within a reasonable period of time.

Lots of practical guidelines along with some solid background discussion on why some of these steps are a good idea - and yes, on the whole I agree with it. Some of the advice requires a little interpretation, for example there's a fairly detailed section on what clothes Jennifer Nicole suggests could be included in a collection of a practical outfit ensemble to suit most or all occasions. Her advice there landed a little off-center for me since, unlike the rest of the book it *seemed* to me to be more appropriate for females in a target age group of 30 - 40 somethings which, as a 50 year-old male I am not really given to wearing "light slacks" ;) But I'm poking fun there really, Jennifer's advice is trying to cover all the bases and she does this well without adopting a kind of fiery pulpit preacher tone. There's a lot more depth and purpose to the book than the chapter on sartorial simplicity.

The book contains solid plans on how to address the clutter, prioritize the things you actually do need and how to be brave and a little ruthless with the flotsam that floated down the river of your lifestyle until it formed a logjam in your happiness or, as Jennifer puts it "the stuff".

Charlee Prescott narrates the book excellently with a great tone in an engaging style. I feel for her having to say the word "stuff" 40,000 times - there is no better word in English to use in phrases like "and go through the rooms placing all the stuff you don't need to one side".

I'd like to hear more of Charlee...in fact I'd like to hear/read more from Jennifer Nicole too - a good book.

I received the audiobook for free and was asked, in return, to provide an honest review, which this is. If I'd hated the book I would say so.

Surprisingly helpful

I didn't know how much I'd get from it, and indeed there were many practices here I already follow and some of it you would think would be common sense, but I got quite a lot out of the book! It's helped me a great deal in a short amount of time. The narration was clear, pleasant, and compelling. Very well done all around!

Good info, but I've enjoyed others more

Some things are a little cheesy, but there was good overall content. She brings awareness to why we keep stuff, and how to keep the good stuff.

Easy listen - pretty basic.

This was a decent read, nothing mind blowing or particularly insightful. Short and to the point.

Adopt the lifestyle

This book is a pretty quick listen and I have been actively looking for ways to declutter my home so I was excited to listen. The narration was clear and easy to understand. This wasn't exactly what I had hoped it would be but there is some good, common sense advice within. I found this to be more about adopting a different lifestyle rather than about organizing. I'm not sure that I would be willing to reduce my entire wardrobe to a few essential pieces of khaki, black and white. I think there are some tips that I can apply to my life, I need to reduce, but I'm not sure I'm willing to completely submit to minimalism. I like some of my useless, creature comforts. Give it a listen and take from it what you can.

Easy Minimalist Living Review

This was an easy book to follow with some good suggestions. I think that for the most part, much of this is common sense. In a nutshell, this is why most people 'spring clean'. Simplest solution is don't buy crap you don't need. Easy peasy.
