Acerca de esta escucha

The Dungeon is a place of magic and mystery, a vast branching, underground labyrinth that has changed the world and the people who dare to enter its depths. Those who brave its challenges are rewarded with wealth, fame, and powerful classes that set them apart from the rest.

Ken was determined to follow the footsteps of his family and become one of the greatest adventurers the world has ever known. He knows that the only way to do that is to get into one of the esteemed Dungeon colleges, where the most promising young adventurers gather.

Despite doing fantastic on the entrance exam, when his class is revealed, everyone turns their backs on him, all except for one.

The most powerful adventurer, Crimson, invites him to the one college he never thought he’d enter. Haylon, an all girls college.

Ken sets out to put together a party and master the skills he'll need to brave the Dungeon's endless dangers. But he soon discovers that the path ahead is far more perilous than he could have ever imagined.

honestly glad for the VA changes Lewis Alexander's voice in this book hurt my soul

VA change

First off, Christopher Boucher and Jessica Threet are amazing voice actors and I know when they are performing for a book I will be in for a great time. I have been a fan of theirs for a long time and seek out books narrated by them. It was how I found this series.

As for the story, I found it a fun take on the LitRPG genre with an anime twist I haven't quite seen in other books of the genre. There are minor anime tropes that I was able to vividly imagine because of how common the tropes were. Ken is a likeable protagonist and his relationship with his party seems genuine, as genuine as a harem story can get at least. All the supporting characters are distinct and memorable. I highly enjoyed the first book and had already purchased the second book half way through the first.

A fun listen!

I love this series. Great story, no doubt.

But why replace the OG VAs? They were amazing.

I dont know Boucher much, but I did listen to another series with him and Threet, and they did a great job. I love Threet's books; she's always done a magnificent job.

That being said...why does this feel half-assed/rushed? All the voices sound the same same. No distinction. Was it rushed to the point the actors couldn't do their own thing? Again, I've listened to 1 other series from Boucher, and he did great in that. Threet was amazing in Dragon's Justice, but where did that VA go? I hope they get better in later books, because this is weak.

Great book, but why replace the OG VAs?

love the concept and genre, has great pacing and character development. I really enjoy that the spicy scenes are limited. I hate when a book will introduce a character and like 2 minutes later it's a spicy scene. this series does a great job at building the relationships. I'm enjoying the new narration especially for Des, Bruce is the best of the genre but I'm definitely bias but he also makes up the bulk of my library.

my favorite series hands down

Lots of mixed opinions on the VA change, but in my opinion Chris does a much better Ken and I felt more connected to his character than I did when it was

There is a fair complaint that Jessica’s character range is not as impressive as Rozelyn (you will hear similar character vibes between this and Dragon’s Justice and Ard’s Oath), but I found her performance is great here.

New VAs are a better combo

I personally liked the writing displayed in the book. It’s got good detail and keeps you engaged the whole time

my initial appraisal of this series was apprehensive at best, i had a bit of leeriness about if it was worth it or not and that apprehensiveness was proven wrong. the series is good and very entertaining well worth the listen and the credits.

expectations were corrected very quickly.

So this was a banger before but Chris and Jessica made it better. I’m giving the whole series another listen.

It has been quite good and the voice actors are doing a great job.

The story is very interesting and very well written. I am excited to listen to the whole series.

Great story

So I listen to nearly every single D.D. books in the series. Listen with the original VA, and now relistening with this current cast it's very strange.

I love both Boucher and Threet. I've listen to them in other books and enjoy their performance just fine. However, it's a very noticable difference in performance between Boucher/Threet and the Original Alexander/Rader.

With Boucher and Threet. The voices are more "realistic". There is a few accets here and there (Although with the Elven Father it's a whisper so hard to hear in this book). But that results in it hard to tell who is talking. Certain performances sound the same, and characters voice don't really match their character IMO. However, the sound mixing is a mix bag. For Example, they place one character talking over another character laughing to sell what's going on. So the extra sound effects are nice. However, some voices are quieter than others. So there's that issue.

With Alexander and Rader. The voices were more "Cartoony"(If that's the word for it). Each character has their own Unique voice, and it's very easy to tell who is talking.

Some very clear examples of the differences are the Grandfather's and Charlote's voices.
With B/T the Grandfather is more quiet, and sound elderly.
Charlote is loud and screams a lot.

With A/R, the Grandfather is more hyper, and sounds like a Cartoon.
Charlote is quiet and soft spoken.

Overall: The VA change is very noticable, but not a deal breaker for me. I like the story, and plan to listen/finish the series with these new VA. I hope in future releases they can do a better job at some volume levels.
