About this listen

Raistlin Majere has become a Black Robe wizard and travels to Neraka, the lord city of the Dark Queen, ostensibly to work for her, though in reality he means to further his own quest for power. But Takhisis finds out that the dragon orb has entered her city and sends her draconians to find and destroy the wizard who has it in his possession. Before her agents can strike, though, Raistlin finds out that Takhisis means to take control of all wizardly magic. She has ordered Kitiara to set a trap for the Gods of Magic on the Night of the Eye, when all the high-ranking wizards will be in Neraka to celebrate.

As the forces of light, with help from the good dragons, are turning the tide of battle, Raistlin is forced to flee, for his foes are closing in on him. As the Dragon Highlords vie for the Crown of Power in the Temple of the Dark Queen, Raistlin Majere wages his own desperate battle against Takhisis in the dungeons below and meets again the brother he betrayed. The fate of the world hangs in the balance.Get Lost: listen to more of the Lost Chronicles.©2009 Margaret Weis (P)2009 Brilliance Audio, Inc.

Sandra Burr does amazingly well

If you could sum up Dragons of the Hourglass Mage in three words, what would they be?

intense, exciting, resolving

Which character – as performed by Sandra Burr – was your favorite?

Kitiara. The other narrators I've heard perform her were all men, and they just couldn't do her character right. Same goes for the other females. Burr performs the male characters well, too.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. I'd read the novel before, and I liked it enough to want to listen to it at work. For me there were some 'aha!' moments because it answered some questions I'd always had.

Poor Narration

All three of these books are great for fans of the Dragonlance Series, but the narration is horrible. I won't buy another book read by Sandra Burr.

Great story. Burr is worse than Ax Norman…

I can ignore mispronunciations, but she makes Tas sound like a drunken Goofy trying to be a valley girl.

It is a Great book. Get Nick Offerman to read it, then it would be epic.

Fantastic

If anything, I found this trilogy more nuanced and compelling than the original Chronicles that I fell in love with in my youth. Weiss and Hickman have honed their skills over the decades, and this trilogy was obviously a labor of love. The final installment is a perfect capstone and it was a pleasure to walk alongside the heroes and villains of my youth again, learning more about them from the writers that brought them into being and launched my love of books AND fantasy fiction.

Really ties the story together.

Dude. This series really ties the whole story together, man. Although the information is not necessarily valuable to understanding the War of the Lance and the original chronicles, it definitely enhances the storyline with background information that does not in the slightest way come across as hastily put together.

Best of Lost Chronicles & 1 of the best in series

Sandra really hones in well at this point in the series with the exception, as mentioned a bunch already, of Tass's voice(not as bad as previously though), as well as one of the best thought out and written in original the storyline of the series.
