About this listen

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula with the purchase of a house in London, he soon discovers some strange and shocking things about his new client. And then some strange things start happening back in England: an apparently unmanned ship is wrecked off the coast of Whitby, a young woman discovers strange puncture marks on her neck and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the 'Master' and his imminent arrival.

First published in 1897, Dracula is an epistolary novel, meaning that the narrative is related through letters, diary entries and newspaper articles. The story is brought to life in this Audible production by a group of actors that you might recognise from TV and film: Himesh Patel (Yesterday), Patricia Allison (Sex Education), Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People), Theo James (Divergent series) and Jason Watkins (The Crown).

A classic come to life

I thoroughly enjoyed the different voices of the narrators. This book is absolutely worth the listen, even if you've already read it. The narration really brings the story to life and makes for an enjoyable listen.

Wow. I had no idea this was such a good book!

I was expecting Nosferatu in sonnets or something, but that is not at all what this is. The story is great, the characters are relatable and the background is deep and compelling. On top of that, the voice talent is top notch. I'm very pleased with this read!
It's so refreshing to read a story that isn't solely populated by sociopaths and narcissists! This is what literature was before it was taken over by the (((Byronic ilk))) of today. The main characters aren't drug addicts, womanizers, or even greedy. They are perfectly normal, moral people who work together for the common good. The world isn't dark and evil. It is a wonderful place full of good and bad forces that don't detract from it's perfection. These are messages that we're starved for in this dystopian world.

This was awesome

I have never read the original story so it was awesome to hear it told by so many different performers who’s voice matched their character perfectly. Highly highly recommend

Couldn't stop listening to it

For someone who only knew of the Dracula story in bits and pieces, I had no idea how truly intriguing, suspenseful, and emotional the story would end up being. The cast did a phenomenal job voicing the lines, I don't think I would want to experience it any other way.

Highly recommend!

Gripping Presentation

The narration of the actors brings a live their characters. They have taken a classic work of horror and made it gripping as if they were people as real as any. A very enjoyable experience.

Fantastic production

Fantastic production from start to finish. Very impressed by Audible's work here.

Now talking about Bram Stoker's story itself. The man is brilliant writer, my only note is that I wish there was an editor that could have tightened things up a bit here and there. Having said that, I am very happy I was fortunate enough to experience this book.

A Classic, with outstanding performances

Every character here sounds great and really brings the book to life, and i must say, the book adds so much context and atmosphere that the film adaptions have never really achieved. I wish i did not know about dracula before reading this book because there is so much mystery and foreshadowing, ominous events and philosophical themes about the nature of the unholy and its relation to the holy. Regarding the narration, I think dracula and van helsing do wonderful jobs but the stern tone of dr. steward and wide ranging performances of mina cannot be overlooked. My one compliant regarding narration is that dracula's voice seems different in the later half of the book then it is in the opening chapters. There are several story reasons that could perhaps explain this but I like his old tone of voice better regardless. There is also one frustrating character decision by mina over half way into the book, and some archaic depictions of culture that will seem unfamiliar given the age of this story.
