About this listen

The parent with the wayward child. The couple whose marriage is in jeopardy. The man who is out of work. The woman stuck in crushing debt. The patient with a bad diagnosis. The student who can't get a fair shake. People hanging by a thread, losing faith, and short on strength. What do they all need to hear?

Don't give up.

Our lives are minefields of challenges that take their toll on our courage, our conviction, and even our faith. But God whispers to the weary, Don't give up. Drawing from inspiring biblical stories and first-person testimonies of perseverance, best-selling author and pastor Kyle Idleman encourages listeners to cast their concerns on God, trust in his love and timing, pray for patience and strength, and seek out support in the family of God.

Kyle’s in depth review of the book of Hebrews should be mandatory reading for all of us, as we’ll all face seasons of discouragement. He reminds us of the ultimate prize in Heaven and reminds us that Jesus has been through everything we’re dealing with and made a way for us to fellowship with Him!

Kyle does a great job narrating his book, making me look for ways to extend my “drive time.”

What an encouragement!

I really liked the stories to help us understand better. Very insightful about human nature and how hard it is to follow Jesus.

Thanks Kyle

This audio book can bring many encouragement to keep faith while going through some hardships. There are some in the church body that should proceed with caution though. If you are an abuse/trauma victim/survivor at the hands of any church leaders or your spouse this is not the book for you. Seek help, even if it needs to be outside of the church. For those grieving a lost child, (this is addressed in book) again caution in that sometimes in your grieving you will be singing praises to the LORD through your tears and other times you may not be able to get out of bed and perform because grieving a child can be exhausting, amongst many other mixed emotions. It does not mean that you are falling into self pity or feeling sorry for yourself. Also the two broken marriages mentioned that almost ended in divorce were due to a husband’s adultery and praise the LORD these marriages were mended. This is not always possible. Spouses need not submit to abuse of any form or adultery. This does not mean that you are “giving up” or sinning by protecting yourself and your children from harmful behaviors. I encourage seeking help for this specifically and not self help books. As the body of Christ I pray we gather around those that are victims and show them Christ’s open arms of refuge, mercy, and long suffering love. I pray we stand up against harmful behaviors and victim blaming. When helping victims it does not help to simply say stop being a victim, there is no shame in being a victim. It is not your fault if you have been victimized. Please do not keep this secret or deal with in isolation. Telling Jesus is good, He does know and understands. Speaking out is necessary. Do not fall into the tactics of denial or dismissal of victim hood as that is another form of abuse to keep it hidden and protect the abuser, when victims (children as well as adults) are left unprotected, harmed and further traumatized.

This is a very good book. I would recommend to anyone. Well written. Kyle is rather monotone sounding though.

Excellent for the down and out

I loved it and have both the paper back book and the audio so my husband can also enjoy it and he don't like to read like I do. I have yet to find any book that Kyle Idleman wrote that we don't really enjoy and learn so much from.. Keep them coming Kyle. Thanks so very much for being an amazing teacher of God's word through your books
