Publisher's summary

Once a person hikes a long trail, they catch the bug, but does it get any easier the second time around? Four years after starting the Appalachian Trail with his brother, Brian takes to the Continental Divide Trail for his second thru-hike in familiar company. However, trail life is not always as rewarding and romantic as the pictures you see or second-hand stories you hear.

Divided provides an accurate account of life on trail: what hikers ponder, eat, love, loathe, and the questions they tire of answering. Some moments are too short, some are painfully long, while others are whisked away unceremoniously with the wind. Follow along on the journey as Brian navigates difficulties, successes, and everything between while attempting to walk from Mexico to Canada.

Pretty good-inspirational

Trail diary is real inspirational and good. Descriptions of flora n fauna terrific. Observations on mankind naive and shallow. But in the end a good read of trail life on the CDT.

Great Real Life story - Well Done Narration

I really enjoyed hearing Brian Cornell’s experiences hiking the CDT. I found it very inspirational and motivating. The narrator did a fantastic job as well.
If you enjoy the outdoors and more permitive rustic camping you will enjoy this book

I appreciate the honesty and imperfections

This book was really good. It’s just your typical through hiker book but this is one that magnifies the lows and challenges of the trail.

Good mental prep for your own thru-hike

I’m listening to other’s hiking stories in preparation for my own hike on the JMT. The author’s descriptions of his mental state were helpful to my understanding of what to expect. I admire his determination to do this trip alone and am thankful that he wrote this book.

Excellent story

Superb man, just a great read with the perfect blend of story telling and life philosophy. Hoping you hike the PCT for your triple crown and we are lucky enough to read about it :)

You feel what he does….

I think I enjoyed the book the most because much like me the author hikes for the experience, not the speed. While I didn’t always agree with his assessments of people or situations; his take was written respectfully within his own acknowledged voice. Had some great moments of humor. Definitely with the listen.
