In this book, you'll learn about difficult subjects in an easy-to-understand manner. You can learn to transform a life of hardship into one full of promise and significance. DBT can teach new methods to reverse and actively take control of self-destructive habits and negative thought patterns.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Great job!
The methods taught in this book are easily taken away and applied to your real-world daily life. We all have negativity that appears in our life daily, but it's how we approach that negativity to reach a point of healthiness. This book is key to finding the ways out of those "negative" moments.

Great introduction to DBT
I personally was not familiar with DBT but a very close friend recommended it to me as I love any kind of self-development therapies. This audiobook is perfect for anyone wanting to learn in depth what DBT is and how to apply it in their lives. I really enjoyed the Chapter about mindfulness as this is something I thought I knew a lot about. However, seeing Mindfulness in relation with DBT has brought way more meaning to this concept. There is a sentence that really sticked to me "just because you have an idea it does not mean is true". I recommend this audiobook to anyone wanting to dig a bit deeper in their self-development.

This could be life changing!
As a person diagnosed with BPD, I am thrilled to find this book!
The author is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced in treating this disorder and for the first time I’m feeling hopeful for my future. I appreciate the techniques for bringing forth awareness through DBT and practicing mindfulness. I feel that she helps to remove the stigma around BPD and I can let myself off the hook more, understanding that my “differentness” is just the way I’m wired and I can learn to better manage my emotions.
I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone struggling with BPD or loves someone who is.

Such a great resource for DBT
I had been talking to a friend of mine who is undergoing Dialectic Behavior Therapy, and I became really curious. This audiobook gave such a fantastic foundation for understanding the concepts. It's well-researched - like, really well-researched - and also has tons of anecdotal examples.
There's also a lot of compassion in this book; you don't always get that from these kinds of books. I believe the author really wants to help people, and this book is a passion project. It's even better with the author as the narrator.
This is a strong book for anyone who wants to learn more about DBT. I'm really glad I found it!

Outstanding and very thorough!
Wonderfully done by the author. Escaping negativity is not easy. We can be our own worst enemy. That's why its so important to have reliable resources like this to help us. I definitely recommend this book!
