Excellent Book

What a great book. Chronicles the life of a you g deputy from back east to Los Angeles. My son is in the academy to become a deputy sheriff for LASD. So many similarities as to what he is going through that you did as a trainee. I highly recommend this book for ones entering law enforcement and for ones who have done their time in the profession.

True and concise summary of a police career

This book was a true and concise summary of a 30 year career as a deputy sheriff. Cliffs perception of his civilian and departmental interactions seem accurate, honest and true. Even though there are hundreds of more incidents that could have been told in this book, it was a good balance of story telling and relaying what occurred throughout his career.

This book is highly recommended for anyone who is interested in law enforcement but never became a police officer but also still compelling to a current LEO.

I have no complaints, good job Cliff Yates!

Thank you!

The stories you’ve shared here of your career have been inspiring. I’m in the process of joking a Sheriffs office in Michigan, I’ll be starting in the jail as well. This book has given me a few pointers and good laughs. I’d like to see a show of yours if you ever come to Michigan. I’ll keep an eye out for tours!

unlistenable, decent story

The audiboe performance is no good. The narrarator is rushed, sounds like no punctuation is being used. frustrating because I think its a decent story so far.

Nostalgic book for older LE

Good for retired KE who want to reminisce. Not recommended for new or modern LE seeking to learn more about the job.

Not great, but honest.

I wasn't too crazy about the writing style. At times it felt like I was listening to a dry police report. Sometimes the book didn't flow very well. The narration was okay, but there were some hiccups.

The author has many interesting and entertaining stories to tell. It's a book that comes off as very honest.
