About this listen

Promoted early, Desmond McLaughlin and his mates are now full members of the Hegemony military, with all the rights and duties that rank includes.

Given the benefits of achieving the rank of full adept early, Desmond and company elected to be deployed aboard the battlecruiser Fist of Defiance, a ship that just happened to be part of the Seventh Border Fleet. The same fleet headed by a certain admiral whose daughter was saved by Desmond and his girls.

Now, though, away from the oversight of the academy ships, the reality of his place in the greater galaxy is even closer to home. With his girls at his back, Desmond must do his best to show his capability not only as an adept but also as the clan-male to the newly formed Clan McLaughlin.

Things are never as simple as they seem though, and events march ever forward throughout the greater galaxy. While Desmond’s team might be something special, they are only a very small piece on the very large board of Hegemony of Velvet Stars.

What fresh trouble will Desmond uncover? What new foes will rise up to face Clan McLaughlin? And will Desmond and his family be ready to face them?

Monster Girls In Space is a Sci-Fi, fantasy, semi-military, men’s romance, progression fantasy about a man becoming a space-wizard amongst a universe full of monster girls (it’s in the title, you should have expected that part). Expect adventure, mischief, magic, fighting, and unconventional relationships in a galaxy that is curious what sort of mischief Humanity will get up to.

can't have enough.

the story is interesting, engaging and addicting. The universe that the author made is a thing of beauty. The magic system interesting and to a degree valanced. It truly feels that the main character is strong due to his wit and perseverance rather than an excessive and advantageous invalance in his favor.

I hate waiting!!!

I can't get enough of this series. The wait for the next book is gonna be torture. The characters are well written. The voice actors are phenomenal. And I'm stuck waiting.

A good balance.

The book is an entertaining continuation that I only wish lasted longer. The story is moving along in a relaxed pace with only hints at a larger picture which I find good. I'm far more interested in the day to day of the team and their fights than any big picture. Only some very minor stretching of disbelief(mainly the circumstances) and a couple small plot holes. The story is very cliché, but again it is done well so doesn't seem so annoying. The ending is especially cliché but I was expecting the cliché so wasn't to disappointed. While my 'type' isn't the same as Desmond's I can appreciate his pure love of big strong women. It's such a straightforward love that I find it all rather adorable. I find the authors dislike and obvious disdain of humans annoying but it doesn't come up much. He keeps praising humans only to tear into them at other times. Aka his constant admiration of humans endurance and survivability only to turn around and say all other humans are shit and only his mc is doing well.

Good story still. But more short king role reversal…

Honestly, it is frustrating that the mc is such a sensitive flower. Along with the problems in the title, this book seemed to ratchet up addressing it. About the time I forgot the size difference, sensitive flowering, or the role reversal it is brought up again. I get it.

I will still read because the story overall and the world is well done. After a while the above mentioned starts to grate at me.

More of the same.
