Publisher's summary

The sixth book in this action-packed, wildly original fantasy series by New York Times best-selling author Jasmine Walt. If Sunaya and Iannis thought there would be time to rest after returning from their last mission, they were sorely mistaken. The Minister sends them to face off with yet more dangerous enemies - this time in a lawless port in remote Garai, where pirates and slavers thrive, and everyone is fair game. To hide their undercover mission, Sunaya and Iannis travel to Garai as official guests to a state funeral. But Sunaya's luck runs out when she finds out her father is on the guest list, and worse, runs straight into him and his family. For now, her deadly secret is safe. But once they discover her true identity, they may not be willing to suffer her alive....

Book 6!

A foreign country, attempted murder, gun running, fireworks, pirates, typhoons, fighting, intimate relations, lost family, poisoning, and just plain ole bada$$ mages. Plenty of action abounds in this story from one continent to another. Life and death decisions & actions are around every corner. Sunaya's hot temper still shows in this book along with her outburst immaturity. I'm a bit surprised that at least one of the characters hasn't had a discussion with her about conduct befitting her role by Iannis's side, especially Iannis. The narrator did a great job!

SO Bummed! Just Couldn't get into the story.

Wow, what a bummer! I read the books intro & listened to the Audible intro, (They have different intro's or words ) but are usually on point. I tried to listen for 2 hours to allow Myself to get swept away into the story but found it to be Very Dry. I'm uncertain if it was just the lacking of enough pitch changes in this Narrator's voice when necessary if it was just the fact that the story line jumped around(for lack of a better word) too much for My taste. I've heard this Narrator's voice in another Book that I have listened to in the last couple days and I'd be remiss if I didn't think Her voice was better suited for books with a higher level of PASSION. JS, in the almost out of breath, throaty way She ends each sentence from the first line of the story seems like it was just not a good fit for this book. It is just as I see it. I can't read for more than 10-15 mins. w/o suffering bad migraines, therefore, I depend on the voice of the Narrator(s) to allow Myself to close My eyes and let My imagination whisk me into the story. Or maybe even doing little mundane task around the yard or home & still enjoy the tale. This just didn't not do that for Me and I have wasted more than 2 hours of My Day !😕 Perhaps others may be able read it & enjoy.
