About this listen

With her social life and writing career in tatters at the ripe old age of 35, Sunni Taylor decides to pack up her things and join her sisters, Lana and Emily, in the small town of Firefly Junction. Hoping to open a bed-and-breakfast, Sunni sets herself the task of refurbishing the rundown Cider Ridge Inn, a 200-year-old house with a sordid past.

In the meantime, she's stuck writing dull human interest stories for the Junction Times. But when Sunni decides to bend the rules on her first newspaper assignment, she soon finds herself in her favorite place - right in the center of a murder investigation. Now if she can just steer clear of the cocky, irritating, and far too appealing local detective, Brady "Jax" Jackson.

It isn't long before Sunni discovers that avoiding Jax is a piece of cake compared to staying clear of the equally cocky, irritating, and far too appealing 200-year-old ghost haunting the halls of the Cider Ridge Inn.

A Series I really enjoy, but...

I have enjoyed this series (along with other books from this author). They are simple, enjoyable, quick reads. I think the characters and their banter are fun. But, I understand that not everyone will enjoy them. If you're looking for a dark, serious story, this is not it. I have to admit this first book didn't come across well in the audiobook version. I felt the reading made the main character sound whiny and immature, where she's supposed to be snarky and sarcastic. I enjoyed the books, so I'm hoping the next audiobook will translate better.

Decent

it's a cozy mystery....so it's light and goofy. it is not a hard boiled detective story, so if that what yer looking for, look elsewhere.
I like her books and stories....but I have to say....the narrator is AWFUL.....has she ever read a book? listened to an audio book? I'm not convinced.....I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to narrators and can usually overlook a bad one, as I did with this one but I was really disappointed. Unfortunately it looks like the same narrator does the other two books in this series....The author really should find a new reader.

Once you move to Firefly Junction

…you will never want to leave or the story to end. I loved every single character AND the reader! Good mystery and good fun. Going on to the next in the series.

Fun paranormal cozy

I loved listening to these characters come to life and I can’t wait to hear more. Sunni and her sisters are fun together and can’t forget Raine and her abilities—and best of all the cider ridge ghost. The narrator did a wonderful job.

Oh and can’t forget the handsome detective Jackson!

Thoroughly Enjoyed It!

I read the reviews before I listened to the book. I actually liked the narrator. The story is funny and enjoyable. The characters are likable. The mystery was fun. I look forward to the the next boon in the series and more books by the author.

Boring

Death in the Park is boring and formulaic. All of the characters are attractive, smart and perfect. They live in a perfect town, except for the unfortunate marder. Then, the author introduces a ghost into the story. Why??? I couldn't bring myself to care about what happened in the story. The narrator did a good job but couldn't save this book. I returned it.

meh..

There isn't any special about this book. The characters and plot are lackluster and flat. I didn't finish it. I'm not going to get the next one.

Yikes

This book had one of the thinnest, simplest story plots I’ve heard in a long time. I had to double check I wasn’t reading a children’s book by mistake. Literally so awful & no story line at all. Very anticlimactic and thin reasoning throughout. The murderer was revealed very early on but they did not confirm it until the end, making the story blah and not exciting since you already knew the murderer. The murderer also had the stupidest, juvenile motive. I really disliked this book entirely.
