About this listen

Do you want to get your teen out of their room and back into your life? If you feel you are losing control, then keep reading.

Up to 44 percent of students reported having symptoms of depression and anxiety.

If you have parented teens, you will know how challenging it can be. Today’s teenagers are experiencing a whole new raft of difficulties, and their anxiety levels are enormous.

This audiobook shows a way through the storm. Using practical examples and a clear description of cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, Maggie has set out the how's and whys of maintaining communication, helping teenagers believe in themselves and successfully overcome anxiety. Maggie and her daughter, Renée, have made this audiobook from their own experience. A fierce love of her teen and a determination to push through all the difficulties led Maggie to challenge her parenting style, change her approach, and learn about the best psychological method to help both herself and her daughter.

Renée’s contributions throughout the audiobook bring the dialogue to life, giving a valuable perspective. This audiobook shows how the most difficult relationships between parents and teens are salvageable and can lead to a bright future.

In this audiobook, you will discover:

•How to get inside their thoughts to understand their anxiety.

•Why teenagers react this way.

•How the teenage brain works.

•Application of cognitive behavioural therapy in everyday life.

•How what makes us feel happy makes us addicted.

•How to help your child be happy and confident.

•What are teens thinking, but do not want to share with us?

If you feel everything you do is in vain (punishment, praise, explanation), this is exactly the audiobook that will help you understand why this is no longer working, and how to change it without giving up your principles.

Maggie and Renée restored harmony in their family. You can do it too.

Loved this book!

This book is amazing in helping guide parents through stormy times, difficult emotions, and anxious episodes that many teens experience. I love the different steps emphasized, including getting involved in their world, rebuilding the teen-parent relationship, and being a calm parent, to name a few. Dealing with teen anxiety is an epidemic in these trying times. Heck, I know several adults hiding in their basements because of anxiety. This book gives great inspiration and advice to help these troubled teens build skills that will undoubtedly help them as adults as well.

A caring and perceptive guide

In “Dealing With Teen Anxiety,” Maggie Lovange really gets into the complex world of adolescence. She did a wonderful job of exploring the not-so-great aspects of this turbulent stage while also showing a deep understanding of what our teenage kids need.

I think one thing that really stands out is the author’s focus on the importance of active listening and respecting a teenager’s point of view. The whole idea of “Listen, don’t give up,” and “They need you now more than ever” echoes throughout the book, reminding us that this crucial time in our children’s lives is not the time to back off but rather a time to let them feel your loving presence.

The author gives practical advice on building a connection, stressing the importance of being there during our teen’s toughest moments. The inclusion of worksheets is a nice touch, making the book even more practical.

The part of the book about disorders is comprehensive and a must-read, offering essential insights and encouraging empathy. The author suggests not taking sides and finding joy in the present. When it comes to teen anxiety, Maggie asserts that it doesn’t always mean something is wrong but emphasizes the urgency for parental support.

In a nutshell, “Dealing With Teen Anxiety” is a caring and perceptive guide, urging parents to be more than just caregivers but also cheerleaders, creating an environment where teens feel heard, loved, and respected.

Helping your Teen with Anxiety!

As a parent, I know it can be a struggle raising a teen; with all the emotions, hormonal changes, attitudes, and everything else they throw at you, this audiobook helped me to reflect. It has opened my eyes to why they behave the way they do; they are scared, worried, and uncertain about life; they want to prove their independence, they want the autonomy to make their own decision, and they want us as parents to believe in them that the values we have bestowed upon them, they will use them and make the right decisions. As such, this book has helped me to be patient and confident and be a strong support my kids need in their life. Using Cbt also helped in how I approached them and responded to them, which strengthened our relationship.

Fantastic!

A very difficult topic covered with such love. My sister just announced that her husband is leaving her (affair) and they have 3 kids, I have already shared this with her. I know it will be a great help in the days/weeks/months ahead. THANK YOU for this straightforward book. My favorite chapters were 6 (little things to reduce anxiety and I found they had BIG results) and chapter 7 (we can choose to be happy, SO SO true). Thanks for a great listen!
