About this listen

The true story behind the major motion picture from Amazon Studios.

Childhood friends from Trinidad, Colin Warner and Carl King grew into men on opposite sides of prison bars after Colin was arrested for murder in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. With no evidence against him, Colin was wrongfully convicted and wrongfully imprisoned for more than two decades. But time and walls could not break the friends' bond. Carl's extraordinary resolve, sacrifice, and courage were Colin's last rays of hope in a harrowing struggle for freedom and justice. Whatever it took, Carl was not going to leave his best friend behind.

Incredible. Each of us has the power to act.

There are so many concerns today, protests, lawsuits, about losing our freedoms AND BEING FORCED TO WEAR A MASK. Imagine losing all freedoms and being forced to fight for your life on a regular basis because of something you never did, and because of the selfishness of those who actually did the act. Thank you for lighting the fire in me that I thought had burned out. Your words reminded me that I have something to offer- and much to do!

Let me be blunt about this, it's REAL

You thought the movie was good?

This book was even better.

The narration was on point.

He made it sound like it was from his story telling it to me and the tone of his voice made me feel like I was really there with him in person, having a heart to heart conversation.

Did I mention this was based on true story? Like, how much more real can one get ?

Just absolutely, *perfect emoji*

Excellent book

Such a heartbreaking story! NOBODY should have to go through with this guy did. I have experience with having a loved one being in prison, and I could relate to Colin’s story so very much. Our country has become so hell-bent and locking up the bad guys, that they don’t take time to be SURE that they have found the bad guy. A famous person once said that it is better to let guilty people go free than to ever lock up even one innocent person. I totally agree! Law enforcement needs to get a message that we the people just won’t stand for this anymore. That means that we the people need to cry out loudly to end these horrible injustices.

Good example of forgiveness and making a difference

I liked the fortitude of all the characters. How they never gave up. Relying on their faith of what they been taught throughout their life. It’s amazing Colin, had no bitterness. Was grateful for everything, no matter his cost. Grateful to his friend Carl. What a blessing and example of true friendship. Very few people live with the blessing of such a friend. He gave a lot for his friend. Best heart ever. “The more he gives, the more he lives.” If only more in this world could live by this motto. He is an inspiration to me to be better, serve more and sacrifice for those I love or the injustices and suffering of others.

A powerful book of truth about injustice.

How does a person begin to heal and right a wrong that so deeply scares so many lives? You do what this writer has done. You tell the story and reveal the truth.

Justice Can Be Blind

WoW! What a great story this was, Colin Warner has to be one strong individual. Convicted of murder he spent 21 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. And he comes out not mad at anyone, he was so lucky to have his best friend Carl who never wavered and fought for his friend for 21 years to have the injustice against Colin overturned and to see him finally get his freedom. I think every one should read/listen to this story. Lakeith Stanfield and Nnamdi Asomugha did amazing jobs narrating this audiobook.
