About this listen

Tess O'Rourke dreams of becoming the first female chief of police in Long Beach, California. As commander of the East Division, she is well on her way...until the night she responds to an officer-needs-assistance call and fatally shoots an unarmed teenager. Despite being cleared of wrongdoing by a grand jury, Tess is so hounded by the public that she takes a job in Oregon to escape the bad press.

Winning over the residents of Rogue's Hollow might be more difficult than adjusting to her new role as police chief in the small backwater town - especially when her closest friend, the pastor's wife, goes missing and the woman's cousin is found shot. Tess finds an ally in sheriff's deputy Steve Logan, but as they track down Rogue's Hollow's first murderer, she worries that she's breaking one of her rules and getting too close to him.

I used to read Patricia Cromwell, but she was just too graphic. I quite enjoyed the mystery and police perspective in this book. The writing was good, the narrator was excellent.

Good read

Thank you Janice for this stunning story, may God bless you, and all your policemen in the USA. We live in South Africa, where policemen get slaughter wholesale, along with hundreds of farmers, and many white peoples, although they slaughter their own as well. Thank you for the reminder that we need to pray for these people who try protect us ( if they are not corrupt, like so many here in South Africa)

What a sad reminder of the lack of our prayers

This book was written before all the anti police rhetoric of 2020. Yet it’s even more timely now.
The commentary by the author at the end of the book.
I will definitely read more books by this author

Excellent book & excellent narration! While not "preachy" this is still a Christian Fic Mystery. Clean story that kept my interest from beginning to end. Out of audios of late, I rate this as a 10 out of 5 stars. A story I will enjoy listening to again. If you like Dee Henderson's older Honor series, I believe you'll also enjoy this. But I'll let you have the pleasure of deciding. Well worth my credit!
