Publisher's summary

One night was all Kelly promised. One night was all Tabby offered. And yet one night wasn’t nearly enough…

Kelly Hernandez is on the mend. After the loss of her girlfriend to a car accident, everyone expects her to be destroyed. The worst part is—she isn’t, and the guilt plagues her more each day. All she’s looking for is a little distraction, something to take her away from herself, even if it’s only for a spell.

Tabby Reynolds is on the prowl, searching for her flavor of the night. Everyone sees the roller derby stud, not the geeky accountant who secretly wants a relationship. However, when she spots Kelly by her lonesome at the bar, some flirtation turns into one hot as hell encounter in the back alley.

Except Kelly and Tabby run in the same circles, and all too fast, they see each other again and then again, until they both cave to their desires. Casual and easy—that’s what they agree on. However, when Tabby tears her ACL, taking her out of roller derby, the relationship between them starts to deepen beyond what either of them planned. However, the past trauma Kelly’s running from and Tabby’s growing insecurities might cold snap any chance of something real before it can bloom.

This is a good book.

I love this whole series. The people at Tabletop Tavern are one big found family. I loved these characters. I really wanted to know more about Kelly. Her past relationship has left her with scars that takes Tabby some time to break through and heal. This two are the perfect pair. Tabby is one of my favorite characters so far.

I, too, want to hug and angry bird beast

The character growth was the best so far out of the entire series. This was a solid hurt comfort story. You’ll find lots of found family support just like the other books in the Dungeons & Dating series.
Zim Avaltrades is a new to me narrator. She did a good job! Roxie’s voice was a little inconsistent, but since she isn’t a MC I’m not worried about it.

Tabby and Kelly's turn

I loved this story. My heart went out to them so much. Our own insecurities can sink ships. These two had some work to do. The storyline was fantastic. The narrator did a fabulous job with this book. I absolutely enjoyed it.

a

Loved absolutely everything about this one, the characters of Kelly and Tabby, the roller derby background (how I used to love to watch that on Saturdays on TV as a kid), the way the author handled Kelly's complicated grief and the ebb and flow of that and their relationship which starts with the intention of keeping things casual and quickly turns into so much more. Enjoyed the narration for this one a lot. It was emotional without ever going over the top.

Constitution Check- Dungeons and Dating

Katherine McIntyre has created a wonderful world of friends and lovers in book 4 in their Dungeons and Dating series, and the relationship that develops between Tabby and Kelly.

Each of these women has emotional baggage and they sometimes get caught in poor communication, even as their hearts seek each other!

Both reading the book and listening to the narrated story from Kim Avaltrades was time well spent,

Each becomes the person they need to be, as their love strengthens for each other, and themselves!

𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬 is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 an “easy read”. It’s painful on so many levels, but hope, live, and friendship abound.

I’ve enjoyed this series from book 1, and book 4 is no different; a definite must and the narration is great!!

My favorite of the series so far

I thought Zim's narration was very well done! So far, she's been my favorite narrator for this series and really brought these characters to life. There are some tough subjects, but I think they were handled really well. Kelly may be a bit in shock but she's not really grieving the death of her girlfriend...mostly because her girlfriend was an awful person behind the scenes. Tabby's dealt with a brother who doesn't approve of anything she does and always finds ways to take digs at her. Both of these women are dealing with learning to be strong in themselves and while they may be using each other as a distraction at first...they totally develop feelings. This was a really nice story and while I did think there was a bit of "oh we said we'd just be casual and I'm not good enough" that may have been trimmed for pacing, overall it moved nicely. These Tabletop Tavern characters are a lot of fun and I love the additional characters we were introduced here. I hope we get to see some familiar faces soon!
