About this listen

Icelandic sisters Áróra and Ísafold live in different countries and aren‘t on speaking terms, but when their mother loses contact with Ísafold, Áróra reluctantly returns to Iceland to find her sister. But she soon realises that her sister isn’t avoiding her...she has disappeared.

As she confronts Ísafold’s abusive, drug-dealing boyfriend Björn and begins to probe her sister’s reclusive neighbours, Áróra is led into an ever-darker web of intrigue and manipulation. Baffled by the conflicting details of her sister’s life and blinded by the shivering bright midnight sun of the Icelandic summer, Áróra enlists the help of police officer Daníel, as she tries to track her sister’s movements and begins to tail Björn - but she isn’t the only one watching....

Confusing with similar names and too many mysteries . Enjoyed Icelandic tidbits, but confusing story lines and extremely difficult to keep clear

Too many story lines

Love Icelandic murder mystery stories. They are fast paced and engaging. The narrators are usually great but I love most how they give the reader a window into the character’s backgrounds and lives beyond just solving the murder.

Engaging and fast paced

Suspenseful, dark, with well-thought out characters, who behave in believable ways. The narrator is superb. The story does end with many unresolved questions, so I am eagerly looking forward to the sequel. Couldn’t put it down!

Excellent start to a new series

Many loose ends. Does this mean there’s a sequel? How disappointing we don’t find conclusions for major/minor characters.

Disjointed and banal. I kept expecting some coherence between the three « plots «  but there wasn’t.

Very disappointing
