Publisher's summary
Cold Blood:
As a vampire, the last place I want to go is a town full of witches. But here I am, in the old west-themed town of Jinx Junction.
Good thing I’ve got Lorcan along for the ride.
So why do we find ourselves in this particular level of hell?
Because my uncle, Fox Aspen, gave me explicit instructions to meet him here. Why? I have no clue.
As to Jinx Junction? This town sucks the big one (and not in a cool, vampy sort of way), more like an unfriendly, witchy sort of way.
Not only are the inhabitants aching to hex me but there isn’t a whole lot to do.
And I’m missing my boyfriend, Rook, something fierce.
But back to the witches—the last thing I want to do is tick off anyone in this horrible place…
So, when I manage to seriously upset the sheriff of Jinx Junction, Lucretia Boline, well, I’m nervous it might be lights out for me.
Lucretia aside, I’m pretty sure there’s a reason why Uncle Fox was so emphatic about meeting him here.
I just hope that reason doesn’t get me killed.
For good.

It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. And in a world where love and sex are forbidden, where it’s hard to distinguish between friend and foe, he meets Julia and O’Brien and vows to rebel.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. I’m finally going to Blood Rose Academy, where I’ll be trained in witch magic, and I can’t wait… Except Blood Rose Academy isn’t exactly how I hoped it would be. First off, the witches are all catty and hex-happy, and I’ve been targeted as their newest victim. And if that weren’t bad enough, there’s a longstanding feud between the witches and the vampires, which means all vampires hate the witches and vice-versa. Maybe that wouldn’t suck so hard (no pun intended) if I didn’t sorta, kinda have a crush on one of the vamps—a loner named Rook, who happens to be the ...

This town is going to be the death of me… For a small town, you’d think being the Chief of Police would be a fairly easy gig, right? Not on your life. Haven Hollow is proving to be the hardest job I’ve ever had. If I’m not dealing with bitchy faeries trying to usurp a court I have no interest in ruling, I’m dealing with a curse that’s got the whole town unable to sleep. Right—Nyquil on Aisle 9 and stat. If only it could be that easy. Instead, I’m going on little to no sleep, myself, while the town is basically falling apart. I’ve got to figure out who’s responsible for ...

Something is up with Lorcan. And I’m fairly sure I’m not just imagining things—he’s been distracted, working later than usual, appears exhausted, and was that vanilla perfume I smelled on him? Regardless of what’s going on with the undead nuisance, I’ve got my own problems to deal with. Namely, I’ve been pinpointed as the main suspect in a murder! I know—as if I have the time or the interest to kill someone. Ridiculous. Anyway, before this situation gets any worse, I need to prove my innocence, stat. Just how am I going to do that? There have been a rash of grave robberies in Haven Hollow lately… So maybe it’s not such a surprise that during one of my open houses, I find my eyes tracking every movement of a suspicious-looking character. Suspicious, as in everything about this guy, is shifty… from how he keeps trying to avoid attention to his extreme interest in my client’s china cabinet. Actually, I’m a lot more than a mermaid—I’m a siren, but I have to keep that little tidbit on the down-low. Why? Because anyone who hears the song of the siren will either lose their mind or become desperately in love with me. That’s usually a buzzkill to most people. Hi, my name is Lydia, and I’m a gypsy. Or, I was a gypsy. Now, I’m not really sure what I am. What I do know is that I’m in trouble. That’s the reason why I’m in the process of moving to Haven Hollow: because I need the safety and protection only a hollow can offer. After a witch named Indigo walked into my occult shop and literally blew up, her soul affixed itself to mine, and now I’m basically possessed. To make matters worse? Whoever was responsible for Indigo going ‘boom’ knows she’s not exactly dead and gone. Which means he’s now after me. As if I didn’t have ...

So, it’s official: Andre and I are now an item. How do I feel about it? Excited and just a little nervous. Okay, a lot nervous—what if I mess this up? I’ve promised myself that I won’t focus on the negative! Instead, I’m trying not to be too depressed because Andre is leaving Haven Hollow for a few weeks. Why? Because he’s a traveling Magician. As a goodbye present, I’ve whipped up a potion I haven’t made in a long while: Gypsy Gold. I figure it will make an impressive stage trick when he’s able to turn things into fool’s gold! There’s never a dull day in Windy Ridge. When I’m not trying to play mama to a restless and spirited teenager, I’m out in the woods trying to round up monsters. Repetition, repetition, repetition
I love this series, but this book was almost unreadable. The authors continually repeated the same phrases and the same tired points throughout the book. It was extremely tiresome.
