About this listen

Dawsyn’s fight to save the people of the Ledge is far from over in this thrilling and highly anticipated sequel to the best-selling Ledge.

Dawsyn’s miraculous escape from the Ledge was just the beginning. In the queens’ dungeon, Dawsyn awaits her execution while reliving the death of her lover, Ryon. There is no chance of mercy.

But hope finds her in the form of rescue by her village friends. Now on the run and struggling to tame her newly gained and greatly unstable powers, Dawsyn's journey continues. Facing betrayal anew, she must learn patience and trust as she builds strength on all fronts, while she and her comrades recover and ready themselves for what's to come.

As they ascend the perilous mountain slopes to the Glacian kingdom once again in a desperate attempt to save those remaining on the Ledge, Dawsyn must battle wills as well as weapons, before discovering an entirely new evil awaiting her....

Book 2 - still going strong.

This series continues to not disappoint. Still maintains a plot that keeps you on your toes and the characters continue to evolve. Great read. Only think I don’t lie is that I have to wait for the next book.

Frustrating main character until 3/4 mark

Solid 3.5 stars

I really like the author’s writing style. Unique word choice and beautiful descriptions and sentences really saved this book for me.

As the second in a series, it dragged. From the beginning until the 3/4 mark, I found myself in

The scream I scrumpt

I LOVED IT. The story reads like a dream and it feels as though you have been transported into Dawsyn and Ryon’s world. Stacey McEwan is such and inspirational person and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us. I will be re-reading this many times. 10/10!!

Felt like an interlude to the end.

There was not a whole lot of plot progression until the very end. It would’ve been a three star if not for the action at the end.

Narration

This series is good. I really like it. The writer is a quality writer. This narrator? No. She makes everyone sound stuck up and bored and Dawson sound like a real b*tch. Her accents are well done. She has nice tone….but verbally each character sounds annoyed and annoying.

Cried so so hard

I haven’t cried this hard over a book since Fourth Wing. What an incredible ending! My husband literally had to hold me. However, I did find one aspect frustrating—the female lead stayed angry over an issue far longer than seemed reasonable, to the point where it became annoying. Honestly, it felt like that level of anger would give anyone a stomach ulcer! And the male character was just too in love with her, to the point where he practically worshipped her and lost his own personality. I really dislike that trope. I even tease my husband about it, asking if he feels that way about me, and he just looks at me like he’s worried for my sanity. It’s a shame because Ryon was such a cool character, but it’s like the lights went out for him. Despite these flaws, the side characters and the overall story more than make up for it.

I finished too fast and now I have to wait for the next one.

I should have planned better.

I should have paced myself.

But in my defense, I got sucked in so fast because the story and narration were AMAZING, so I just kinda didn’t stop listening until the audible man told me he hoped I had a good time.

I did, audible man. I did.

Fantastic Middle of a Trilogy

4.5/5 ⭐
0.5/5 🌶️
4.0/5 🎧

What a freaking ride. Chasm was all about the setup for the finale as we get more into the hows and whys of the separation of these peoples. The backstories we get blew me away at times and the action was fantastic. This one also broke my heart a bit as we wrapped up this middle novel of the Glacian trilogy.

The audio was great, just like the first. I think the only reason I have it as four stars is it's a dual plus POV with only one narrator... I would have really loved someone to join Hannah Genesius as Ryon, especially with it being 3rd person POV, it would have made it easier to keep track of who's POV we were listening too.

I'm a little sad we didn't get like any spice... If there was a kiss even, I was distracted during the audio and missed it. I still gave it 0.5 chilis though because it was a little romantic with some big revelations, especially from Dawsyn.

I really loved how much I have begun to hate the queens (as if I didn't at the end of Ledge...) and some other people I shall not name due to spoilers. Stacey wrote these villains beautifully and I can't wait to watch their downfall. I'm also really loving watching the mages and others work with Ryon and Dawsyn and can't wait to see how they come together to free their people. Bring on book three asap, I don't think I can handle the wait...
