Story
April 1284. As a newly widowed lady-in-waiting to the very pregnant Queen Eleanor of England, Catrin never expected to return to Wales again. She was definitely unprepared to be confronted with murder when she got there - or to find herself face-to-face with Rhys, the childhood friend she lost 20 years before. Rhys had never intended to return home either, but a lifetime of war has deposited him right back where he started - impoverished and owing service to Catrin's older brother.

Story
Love. Magic. Faith. By the autumn of 537 AD, all who are loyal to King Arthur have retreated to a small parcel of land in North Wales. They are surrounded on all sides, heavily outnumbered, and facing near certain defeat. But Myrddin and Nell, two of the king's companions, have a secret that neither has ever been able to face: Each has seen that on a cold and snowy day in December, Saxon soldiers sent by Modred will ambush and kill King Arthur. And together, they must decide what they are willing to do, and to sacrifice, to avert that fate.

Wow
I loved this book like all the rest in the series. Sarah has written a wonderful series.
The most memorable moment for me is close to the end when David has to leave Cassie and Calum behind. He didn't want to leave them but they knew he had to. It shows how much he cares for his friends and family.
As always I think Laurel nailed the narrating perfectly.

I found a new favorite series
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a different take on time travel. This is the first book by this author I have read but it won't be the last. I was recommended her books because of other time travel books I've read. This book grabbed me right away and held my interest until the very end. I will definitely read the rest of the books in this series.

ANOTHER STANDOUT INSTALLMENT
If you could sum up Castaways in Time in three words, what would they be?
Only three???? Intrigue across time
What other book might you compare Castaways in Time to and why?
Hmmm...in what other book is there a technologically superior entity that is doing its darnedest to learn all it can in order to plunder a simpler civilization that is experiencing its own conflicts? I Am Number Four, maybe?
What does Laurel Schroeder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The pronunciation of the names of people and places is so key when you are reading the books and Ms. Schroeder breezes through it all in a way that lets the listener enjoy the whole story without the fear of getting lost in who's who (although the ebooks all begin with a fantastic guide to help the reader along...but it's really nice NOT to flip back and forth)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The final scenes in the hospital rooftop had me on the edge of my seat...I confess, I was yelling at the characters to move faster!
Any additional comments?

What a cliffhanger!
If you could sum up Castaways in Time in three words, what would they be?
Friendship means everything!
What did you like best about this story?
True friends bring out the best in all of us though the ultimate sacrifice forces us to make difficult choices facing inner demons...
Which character – as performed by Laurel Schroeder – was your favorite?
Oh, so hard as I read this book so many times and had my own voices in my head but David, always him as he is becoming more a man in each story...
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but sometimes I must stop due to necessary interruptions... All these books are worthy of one sitting whether reading or listening...
Any additional comments?
This is the 1st time I screamed about waiting for the next book to find out "what happens next to..." even when I know each story has a bit of a "to be continued..." at the end... I felt frustrated but in a wonderful way as this author is one of my favorites...

After Cilmeri series -
Castaways in Time is an excellent piece of work! The storytelling is beautifully written and the story itself is exciting. I have enjoyed all of the books in the After Cilmeri series,, I'm always left longing for the next book! The narrator does a fine job of telling this exciting story and is able to use her voice differently and consistently for each character throughout the series. I highly recommend these books, and have!

Better Than Reading the Book!
I've read all the books in the After Cilmeri series and love them all. This one had been my least favorite - until I listened to it on audio. Listening gave me new perspective on the story and changed my opinion significantly.
Callum and Cassie, who have become two of my favorite characters, play a significant role in this particular story as they travel from the middle ages forward to the 21st century with David. Because they come from modern times originally and because of their very different backgrounds, they add new dimensions and depth to the ensemble of characters. Back in modern Wales, they are pursued by various government agencies who all want to learn about time travel and find some way to take advantage of it for their own purposes. Meanwhile, in the middle ages, Lilly, Anna, and the others are dealing with a full scale war brought by one of David's enemies. I liked that the other characters were able to successfully operate without David's direction although you could feel his influence working throughout.
I thought once the story line moved from being primarily about Wales (after David became King of England) that it would become less and less interesting, but that has not been the case at all. Ms. Woodbury has found ways to keep the story moving ahead and keep it fresh and interesting. At the end of each book, I think she couldn't possibly continue the story any longer at the high level of interest and quality. I'm thrilled to say I've been wrong - every single time. Each story has left me anxiously awaiting the next installment. Listening to this story makes me want to reread the next one, Ashes of Time.
If you've only read the After Cilmeri series, you're missing out on an important part of the enjoyment which to me is hearing tongue-twisting, yet melodic Welsh words. Take a break from the modern world and step into this alternate universe's version of the middle ages.

Perfect blend of history and modern day adventure
If you could sum up Castaways in Time in three words, what would they be?
Historical / Modern / Adventure,
What was one of the most memorable moments of Castaways in Time?
When David returned to the past.
Which scene was your favorite?
David confronting Valence and imposing his power as king.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I definitely laughed at David's sarcasm and I was on edge when David, Callum, and Cassie were escaping to the roof of the building.
Any additional comments?
I loved hearing the story read with all the Welsh words. I finally know how they're pronounced! I'm eager to continue on to the next book!
