Publisher's summary
London's cutthroat shipping trade is no place for a lady, although Olivia Cantarell has secretly acted as her father's assistant for years. Now she has inherited his company, she has no mind to give up control over it - and herself - by marrying, however flattering it is to be sought after for the first time in her life. In spite of threats and intimidation, she will fight to keep her business.
Careful, responsible, and twice jilted, Captain Marcus Easterday has no heart to attempt marriage a third time. But he cannot stand by and see a woman cheated of her livelihood by Ambrose Hawkins, rumored to be a former pirate and a man whose name is known and feared in ports from the West Indies to China.
Courted by the ruthless Hawkins while relying on the scrupulous Easterday's help, Olivia must conceal the identity of one of her clerks and protect her company and employees. Who can she trust?

But when the Will is read, Adam learns most of the wealth has been left to a complete stranger, and a seamstress at that. If he hopes to salvage any kind of funds for himself, he has two choices: adhere to his late uncle’s wishes and assist the new heiress in finding her way, or sabotage her so the courts will find her unfit to inherit. When Fitzwilliam Darcy, still smarting from Elizabeth’s rejection, discovers she was forced to flee her home in disgrace owing to his actions, his course is clear. He must marry her. From the moment he entered her life, he has caused disaster after disaster. Now he has followed her all the way to Scotland, foolishly certain it is within his power to fix all her problems. Story
Lydia was never the most upstanding of the Bennet sisters, but who ever said that moral rectitude was fun? At least she bested her elder sisters and was the first to get married. She never could understand what all the fuss was about after she left Brighton with her gallant. It is a shame, though, that Mr. Wickham turned out to be a disappointing husband in so many aspects, the most notable being his early demise on the battlefields of Waterloo. And so Lydia, still not yet twenty and full of enterprising spirit, is in urgent need of a wealthy replacement.

good for background noise if that.
I wanted to like this story, there was much about it that was good however there was so much more that was bad. The first few chapters were dull and I had to fight to get past them. I couldnt connect with the characters. The characters were rather flat with no growth and inorganic interactions. Went in expecting a high seas adventure in which olivia defied societal norms but walked in on a 1700s historical romance that while accurate in much of its history and day to day life depication lacked anything to pull me in. Even the romance portion was flavorless. It made a valiant attempt at an austin-esque writing style however with many romance stories it attempted a love angle(notice I didnt say triangle because that would mean the three are interested in each other but all torn between whom to love rather than shes not sure who to marry while the two hate each other.) Very much a slow burn sort of romance aspect however once it it's the romance and it rushed to an abrupt conclusion. One good aspect was the avoidance of many common tropes of this genre , such as overly attractive MC.
Narrator had poor vocal range and pacing. Poor audio quality, lots of white noise in the background. No differentiating between characters. Not a fan of this narrator.
