Publisher's summary

In Neil Simon's darkly funny memoir of his family in 1930s Brooklyn, 14-year-old Eugene is preoccupied by his passion for the Yankees and his lust for his beautiful cousin, Nora. Eugene's comic growing pains contrast with the darker issues troubling his family: poverty, illness, long-held sibling resentment, and the growing Nazi threat to relatives in Europe. With a deft and compassionate hand, Simon creates a Brooklyn universe full of memorable characters, humor, and truth.

Neil Simon's spectacular play is presented here by a full cast featuring Valerie Harper, Jonathan Silverman, and Max Casella.

Great to hear this play so well-performed

This play is fantastic (you really can't go wrong with Neil Simon). It's the perfect blend of drama in a comedic format, and listening to these incredible actors perform it so well was really delightful. I would definitely recommend listening to this performance.

My new favorite

I would watch the movie with my mom and decided to give the book a try. As always the book is better but I just giggled and laughed all the way through this audio book. The actors that read it was just as I thought the people should sound. Great story.

Brighton Beach Memoirs

This is about the best two hours one can spend.
I enjoyed this work very much. While listening with my headphones in the yard my neighbor thought I was laughing at her. That alone was worth the cost of the book. It very well performed and extremely enjoyable. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed.
