Acerca de esta escucha

The shocking sequel to the runaway international best-seller Syndrome E.

Syndrome E's Lucie Henebelle and Inspector Sharko have reunited to take on the case of the brutal murder of Eva Louts, a promising graduate student who was killed while working at a primate research center outside Paris. But what at first appears to be a vicious animal attack soon proves to be something more sinister. What was Eva secretly researching? Was she tracking three fanatical scientists who control a 30,000-year-old virus with plans to unleash it on the world?

With his unmatched ability to inject cutting-edge science into his novels, Franck Thilliez draws on genetics, paleontology, and the dark side of human nature to create this smart, adrenaline-fueled thriller. Bred to Kill moves from the rain-slick streets of Paris to the heart of the Alps to the remote Amazon jungle, as Lucie and Sharko work to solve the murder - before whoever killed Eva comes for them.

Liked everything! True to life with feelings and how we manage them. The case that is solved and developed is so original and possible makes me imagine ...

Underlying story so original and character development of Lucy and Franck. At a loss of what to read now....

The author loves evolution far more than people. His obvious atheism comes shining through with this diatribe of faith in an unproven theory. I found its lengthy soliloquies boring and counter productive to the plot.

It just wasn't very good.

An evolution love story

great continuation of Franck and Lucie

Loved every minute. Love, science/biology/genetics woven throughout. Not a particularly surprising ending, but the path there kept me guessing.

Great take with lots of twists and turns!

Would you listen to Bred to Kill again? Why?

I would for sure. This book is just as interesing as the book that comes before it, Syndrome E; the crime itself is a different set up, but the way it's written is just wonderful.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

It did. The crime is super interesting; it goes down a different path from the one in Syndrome E but its just as interesting and there are so many twists that make you question what you think you know from deducing on your own.

Which character – as performed by Gildart Jackson – was your favorite?

I love all of them.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Oh yes! Seeing how the relationship between Franck and Lucie has changed from Syndrome E to this book; and how it reopens during this book. You also see a bit more of Lucie's mother Marie; the two of them have a very touching moment.

Great Book; Very Interesting

The reading was excessively dramatic. The story was not. The villains were too villainous. But I love the characters Sharko and Lucy. I'll listen to other books by Thilliez. This is my second book by him and I like the mix of science and science fiction.

Just ok

Liked this one BETTER than the first, Syndrome E. That was a good intro to the two main characters. Bred To Kill moves at a faster pace and the plot is more interesting by far. Hope there are more to come with these characters.

I can see Eric Cantana as Sharko.

I adore Franck Thilliez's writing and story lines. The threads are captivating and thrilling! My only regret in getting into his works is there are only 2 that have been translated into English. PLEASE translate the next in the Franc Sharko/Lucy Enbelle series ASAP!!

Amazing cliffhanger

What did you love best about Bred to Kill?

The continuation of Syndrome E - characters interaction and multiple twists and turns of the storyline.

What other book might you compare Bred to Kill to and why?

The Boys from Brazil ...

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't imagine a "scene" in the dialog ... as it flowed and one tale that never missed a beat.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, there were many --- but to mention any one of them, would be a spoiler.

Any additional comments?

Narration was perfection. Story was plausible though complicated. Being a fan of dark psychological novels, -this one intrigued me. Reminded me of Salander and Blomkvist's relationship in the Millennium Series.

Finished in 2 days!

Great book! Can't put it down, this writer is amazing, the combination of science and crime is as good as the one of Michael Crichton.

Can't stop listening
