About this listen

Everything is on the table when survival's at stake.

Captain James Henry is caught between a rock and a hard place - again. Merchant ships operating in neutral space near the Terran Coalition and the League of Sol are disappearing without a trace. The latest report has something the others didn’t: a survivor.

When news reaches the planet Lusitania during a cargo offload, Captain Henry and the Shadow Wolf’s crew are hired to extract the surviving operative before she’s silenced and the information she has is lost.

But too many opposing forces are at work within the faction-torn republic - and they all want a piece of the prize.

With directives from multiple government contacts, Captain Henry concedes to protect his ragtag crew. Years ago, he surrendered to dishonor and dismissal from the Coalition Defense Force in order to protect his fellow officers. This time he knows how to play the game.

To save his band of brothers and sisters, Jim must walk a fine line between the operative’s survival and the threats against his crew from the League of Sol.

Before the time to negotiate runs out.

Overall pretty good and a nice spinoff of the main storyline but ends in a bit of a cliffhanger that doesn't satisfyingly resolve the plot.

Overall pretty good but..

Loved this book. The size and diversity of the crew feels like a TV show crew. There's action as they repel pirates and fight sinister forces. The characters have incredible depth and hint at intriguing backgrounds through interesting dialog and clashing personal beliefs. It's a timely book as it reminds us that just because we disagree on philosophy or economics, we can still work together to make a better future for ourselves, so long as we're free individuals without the corrosive coercion of the State.

Can't wait for Book2 to hit Audible!

I am saddened to write this review as I know the author is capable of a much better novel. Disappointed with this novel and performance. I loved the original series. This spinoff does not due it justice. Narration is flat and consists of annoying character voices. Too much dialogue that often seems irrelevant. Action is without any real drama or climax. I will give the author a second chance with his future endeavors as I feel he has much promise. Unfortunately this novel did not hit the mark for me.

Does not live up to original series
