About this listen

When the human and the vampire worlds collide, there will be hell to pay. Luca Ambrus is a rare breed: Vampire from birth, begotten by vampire parents, blood born. He is also an agent of the Council - the centuries-old cabal that governs vampirekind, preserving their secrecy and destroying those who betray them.

When a cryptic summons leads him to the scene of the brutal killing of a powerful Council member, Luca begins the hunt for an assassin among his own people. But instead of a lone killer he discovers a sinister conspiracy of rogue vampires bent on subjugating the mortal world.

All that stands in their way are the conduits, humans able to channel spirit warriors into the physical world to protect mankind. Chloe Fallon is a conduit - and a target of the vampire assassin who’s killing them. When Luca saves her life, an irresistible bond of trust - along with more passionate feelings - is forged between them. As more victims fall, Chloe and Luca have only each other to depend on to save the world from the reign of monsters - and salvage their own future together.

Good book, don't let the cover art fool you!

I didn't get this book for a long time despite the good reviews because the cover art was so cheesy. The old adage regarding books and covers has been proven to me once again. I found this book really entertaining, the world it is set in was interesting without being too complicated, and the characters were about as multi-dimensional as you get in books like this (with the exception of maybe the BDB series). Best paranormal romance I've listened to in a while.

Not a fantasy fan but still LOVED it!

Even though I should have been studying, I could not stop listening to this book. I enjoyed it so much that I was glad the ending of the book had some loose ends that can lead to stories for some of the other main characters. I sure hope there are further stories in the works for Nevada, Sarin and the character hinted at in the ending of the book.

Different but a great read.

This book was a little different than the normal vampire books. I enjoyed it a lot and the suspense was great between the race to cross over between the warriors and the vamp. There was even a surprise twist in the end that made it even more interesting. I hope that Linda Howard and Linda Jones continue the theme into a series as there are several avenues to go. Be assured that the book does not leave you on a cliff the will frustrate you, just a thought that if another book comes out you will want to read it also.

I love Vampires

Any additional comments?

This book is great. Since i love anything Vampire it was a wonderful listen for me. The story line has a little different look on Vampires that i found very enjoyable. There are some hot steamy Scenes and Linda Howard , Linda Jones have done a wonderful job with the entire book. Vanessa Hart done a excellent job with the narration and I found here different voices very suitable to all characters. Over all and excellent book. Shame this is not a series !!

TWO WRITERS MEAN TOO MANY WORDS

I read the good reveiws and purchased. What I missed where the reveiws that said the story was wordy. As you listen to the narrator you start to wonder when she was going to get back to the story and get off how a character feels or felt years ago that really did not move the story along at all. Just words and description that the writers wanted to add. It almost feels like they got paid per word, because there were alot of them that the story really does not need. Also, there were some parts of the story that were repetitive to the point of being completely useless to the story any longer.

Waiting for the second book

If you could sum up Blood Born in three words, what would they be?

Great Book

What other book might you compare Blood Born to and why?

really don't know their Vampires and Warrior was so different from most Vampires & Warriors books and the 2 Linda had just got started on their story, I feel like they just left me hanging. Where is the second book?

Have you listened to any of Vanessa Hart’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Vanessa is ok, and if the 2 Linda will do the second book and Vanessa read it, I will buy it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Blood Born

Any additional comments?

Please, Please do the second book

Good narration, weak story

Too slow. Not on par for Linda Howard. Despite the paranormal edge, not as engrossing as Dream Man or Son of the Morning. Narration by Vanessa Hart is quite good, but she had doubtful material to work with.

This plot has promise, and I liked the lead couple, but...a frustrating listening experience. With two authors, everything was repeated to the point of annoyance, at least 4x (as if I'm too stupid to remember that Luca can tolerate the sun, or that nobody has ever remembered his name, or that Nevada is worried about her family, or ...). Every key point was repeated, mostly in the meandering thoughts of several characters. Lots of scene shifting. Lots of head hopping, in 3rd person POV. Because of info dumping and redundancy, the pace is slow, and Luca doesn't even meet Chloe till about 25% into the book, approx page 100.

This could have been a much better book, without the annoying repetitiveness and the interminable inner monologues. It is also fairly predictable, but that didn't bother me.

There is no sequel, but this story felt finished. No big cliff hanger.

Great narration.
