About this listen
An unlikely hero. A mother-grabbing dragon. An ancient prophecy. And—as if that wasn’t enough—two wannabe gods whose meddling only makes things worse.
Plagued by the evil wizard Lorem Ipsum, the fate of Bitworld rests in the hands of one boy.
Except, that boy didn’t exactly come out of his tutorial a proper hero...
Instead of an established hero class, Grey exited the tutorial a misnomer. An error...
An urgent message reveals that Grey’s mother has been kidnapped by a glitch dragon, sweeping him up into a whirlwind of epic adventure. In order to save her—and Bitworld—the misnomer must solve puzzles, level up, conquer legions of monsters lurking in the mountains, and confront his worst fears.
“Only once in a great while does a writer come along who defies convention—a writer so original he challenges the way we view our realities. Logan Atlas might just be such a writer, and Dawn of the Misnomer is such a tale; a coming-of-age hero’s journey, flipped on its head in a way that feels fresh and exciting. Weaving consciousness redefinings, boss battles, and everything in between for a trope-twisting, inspiring, and, most of all, a fun adventure, this story is the young adult LitRPG we didn’t know we needed. Bitworld is what you’d expect to find if Terry Pratchett, David Eddings, and Neil Gaiman joined forces to create a simulated epic fantasy world—appropriate for all (literate) ages.” (Craig Kobayashi, author of LitRPG novel The Culling of Man)

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Story
For thousands of years, there has been a cycle: a Demon King rises and conquers, and a Hero is reborn a hundred years later to defeat him. Each time, civilizations are ground to dust beneath the Demon King's hordes, but humanity has remained secure in the belief that a Hero of legend will always save them. There's just one slight problem. It's only been 23 years since the Demon King's latest rise, and this time, he's already conquered more than half the world. If humanity simply waits for the Hero's return, there may be no world left for him to save.

I never believed in the whole “light at the end of the tunnel” folly where people, after having a near-death experience, would startle awake in a cold sweat exclaiming, “I saw the light!” But there I was, in this so-called “tunnel” facing a glaring light, when the last thing I remembered was sleeping in my room - the royal bed-chamber, as others called it. Had I died? If so, how? King Grey once benefited from unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability but now finds himself reborn in a society dominated by magic.

My master created me for his entertainment, leading adventurers to ruin. Betraying them at the last moment, just when their glorious victory was on hand. I have been found again by the newest member of a quartet of dungeon crawlers. Poor fool. This time will be no different. Or does it have to be? Unique world creation
This book is protracted in an interesting and unique game world. The characters are deeper than their names imply. The story is engaging and I am interested in seeing where the story goes next. The narrator delivers a solid performance.

Not bad exactly
It wasn't exactly bad, just felt unfinished in a lot of respects. The audio has an intermittent crackling quality like the mic was turned up too high and they didn't fix it in post. The narrators pace was little inconsistent and a bit on the slow side in general.
The narrative pace also runs a bit slowly, but once we get past all that the story is pretty good, it has a lot of comic moments and uses a lot of tropes to essentially make fun of itself. It's very self aware but is also trying to tell unique story with all the pieces of tropes.
I'd say with a trip through an editor and a different audio setup this could be a very good book.
But as it is now it lacks the polish I expect on a finished audiobook

I love the variety that LITRPG offers
LITRPG offers such variety in its tales. There are so many styles and Types to choose from. when your think you’ve seen them all
Something comes along and has a style
All it’s own. This is one of those stories. The MC is weaker Than his companions and must struggle to stay alive and contribute to his parties progress. The concept is simple in theory. It’s a game world. All the characters are programs. One program has evolved beyond what it was supposed to be. The programmers have created what they feel Is to be a solution, only time will tell. The characters are so stereotyped it’s funny….think “scary movie” but for LITRPG. The smile, the battles, the banter. It’s all a recipe for a zany and fun romp through leveling up, dungeon diving and fighting baddies. SPOILER ALERT!!!!
that damn cliffhanger ending is killing me!!!! I really enjoyed this story. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

fun young adult adventure
Good story and narration.
Gray is a young man who is approaching his class assignment day. The class he is assigned will determine whether he can be a grand adventurer as he dreams of. His childhood friend Damsel, is going with him but neither of them realize what will happen during the ceremony...
Aaron did a great job with the narration.

Interesting concept!🤔
This was a different take than on the other LITRPG stories I’ve read/listened to. It was interesting but it did not work for me. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be great for others, I just didn’t care for it.
The narration was good but it did seem to have a little sound issue. Because I am very familiar with Aaron Shedlock’s work and I’ve never had any issues, I’m wondering if it’s a technique done on purpose as part of the “Bitworld” world.
Either way, if you love this genre I encourage you to listen and form your own opinions.

So so so good!
Bitworld is a heartwarming fun adventure with a Terry Pratchett feel. The story follows a trio of young adventures who had me cracking up the whole time. I will admit the being was a tad slow But by the time I got to the dungeons and boss fights I was hooked. The world is a perfect mix of fantasy and video game-style leveling. Never thought I'd geek out on charters finding legendary items and getting cool new abilities. I am looking forward to the next in the bit world series.
I also think the narrator did a great job bring the character to life.

Good for what it is
This was a fun romp of a story. Not to say that it was all fun and games. But it was a good listen to pass the time on. It was set up for a sequel and so has a bit of a cliffhanger.
Good narration and a decent story made for a good listen.

Super Fun Book!
I seriously like this book! It's funny, witty, amusing, and action-packed. The commentaries of Zero and One, weapon and skill descriptions, and "real world" references were hilarious! I got a kick out of the characters' name too. They were clever.
Aaron Shedlock was simply fantastic! He gave perfect differentiation to each character. He absolutely killed it!
I will definitely read book 2 when it comes out!

enjoyable
don't misunderstand the stars, this is a good story...
it's problem is that much of it is written as a old time CRPG with the plots, storylines and writing that goes with it...
which by todays standards just aren't that great...
but if you are into that setup this is a awesome story and you will enjoy it immensely...
Aaron does a good job narrating the story and giving voice to the characters

Hard to enjoy
The premise of an LitRPG told from the perspective on an in-world character appealed. Well written storyline, plot and progression. However, the biggest challenge for me was the narration. Narrator's delivery had a candence that kept softening or dropping the innotation at the end of a sentence. Kept having to rewind and strain to make out the word constantly. This repeatedly interrupted the flow and enjoyment of the story itself. It was a struggle as the annoyance would result in walking away from this audio book and then coming back because the storyline was good enough to pull me back.
