About this listen

Make way for the long paw of the law as Police Officer Megan Luz and her K-9 partner, Brigit, investigate a baffling new mystery in Bending the Paw, by Diane Kelly.

A murder without a body is like a dog without a bone.

A bloodbath is a shocking new challenge for Megan and Brigit when Detective Audrey Jackson calls them to the scene of what could only be a brutal murder. But the one thing the nightmarish scene is missing is a victim. The frantic homeowner's husband is gone, seemingly without a trace - and so is the money he was holding. Has a vicious killer committed what might just be the perfect crime?

Meanwhile, it's hailing cats and dogs all over Fort Worth, and roofing contractors have descended on the city in droves. With plenty of damage and continuing storms, work delays are building up like so much runoff, but Megan is suspicious that one roofer may be a scam artist. Determined to leash every lawbreaker she and her K-9 partner find, Megan is building a case for prosecution, all while Brigit has her nose to the ground for a murderer....

Story was a good enough escape from life in 2020. Nice how the author was optimistic about the pandemic being over. That’s why we love fiction, right? To escape reality. This book delivered that. Happy that there is a real happy ending. The mystery part was good as well; love will make you do crazy things.

At least something nice happened in 2020.

Good mystery. Brigit is very German Shepherd! We used to raise German Shepherds, and I believe they think much like Brigit does. If they had thumbs...

Definitely worth reading.

the only thing that I really hated was a couple of the voices. the dog sounds like some high society matron looking down her nose at you over high tea, it was very off putting, The police detective ,sounded like she she should be onPBS. however when I got further into the story I found that the rest of the narration was good and so was the story. it was creative and fun,and I recommend it.

good story with an interesting twist

I did the Audible. . Colleen Marlo did a great job narrating. Dianne Kelly writes with mystery, comedy and a touch of romance in all her Paw books. A very light read it you want to giggle a bit at the antics of Bridget the police canine.

Entertaining

Although the action takes place in Texas the reader has opted for high brow east coast accents. Have no idea why. She cannot pronounce penitentiary. Other than that the writing assumes you have never seen a crime show or read a police procedural. Pedantically explains every detail. When it rain hero turns on windshield wipers. Really?! Waste of time. Easily figured out and the K-9 ain’t no Chet! (Chet and Bernie great series) will return.
