Publisher's summary

Nominated for a 34th annual Lambda Literary Award • A scintillating thriller with an emotional punch: “The tension builds to unbearably claustrophobic levels. To say more would rob readers of the 'no, he didn’t' suspense that makes Bath Haus an unexpectedly twisted, heart-pounding cat-versus-mouse thriller" (Los Angeles Times).

Oliver Park, a recovering addict from Indiana, finally has everything he ever wanted: sobriety and a loving, wealthy partner in Nathan, a prominent DC trauma surgeon. Despite their difference in age and disparate backgrounds, they've made a perfect life together. With everything to lose, Oliver shouldn't be visiting Haus, a gay bathhouse. But through the entrance he goes, and it's a line crossed. Inside, he follows a man into a private room, and it's the final line. Whatever happens next, Nathan can never know. But then, everything goes wrong, terribly wrong, and Oliver barely escapes with his life.

He races home in full-blown terror as the hand-shaped bruise grows dark on his neck. The truth will destroy Nathan and everything they have together, so Oliver does the thing he used to do so well: he lies.

What follows is a classic runaway-train narrative, full of the exquisite escalations, edge-of-your-seat thrills, and oh-my-god twists. P. J. Vernon's Bath Haus is perfect for listeners curious for their next must-listen novel.

Another hit from P. J. Vernon
As soon as I heard this thriller pitched as ''Gone Girl with gays and Grindr,'' I knew I had to listen. Bath Haus is a dark, gritty, and suspenseful ride—one twist after the next. At first glance, Oliver and Nathan seem to have the perfect life. But when Oliver goes to a gay bathhouse looking for an anonymous hookup, he finds himself involved in something much more dangerous. As the story unfolds, Oliver spins himself deeper and deeper into a web of lies and bad decisions—all in an attempt to hide his indiscretion and stay alive. Featuring incredible dual performances from Michael Crouch and Daniel Henning, Bath Haus is a twisty queer thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat for all 12 hours. —Michael C., Audible Editor

Love, love, love this

Finished in one day. Super dark domestic noir. I felt so tense while reading this perfectly paced and plotted novel. I wouldn’t call it a mystery as you can sort of feel what’s coming and that makes it all the more heart racing. Can’t say much more without giving things away. Narration was very good too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is my first book by P.J. Vernon and Omgoodness I couldn't put it down! This was a well written thriller with fantastic character development. I was immediately gripped from the first chapter. Narrator's definitely made Oliver and Nathan come to life perfectly for the characters they read for. 👏👏 There were a couple parts that were a tiny bit predictable but outside of that I was playing the guessing game.
⚠️ There are definitely some major triggers is this book so please take care if you decide to read.

Gone Girl with Grindr

One of the tensest books I’ve listened to in a while. A+ narration. Found myself screaming, shouting, and laughing during it, alternating between not being able to stop and needing a break to unwind. HIGHLY recommend

Incredibly suspenseful & entertaining!

WOW! Just WOW!!!
From chapter one to the very end, the twists and turns were somewhat unpredictable. Loved the added advantage of having two narrators to read the story.

If you are looking for a wild and dangerous journey in your literature choices, this one will not disappoint!

Enjoy!

Slithers under your skin

Bath Haus by P J Vernon is unnerving, satisfying, transgressive, and sexy. One of the most compelling and well-executed psychological thrillers I've come across in a long, long time. Vernon creates relentless tension and ratchets up the creep factor until you're squirming.

Michael Crouch and Daniel Henning give strong performances, although I do question the creative choice to split this title between two narrators. I found it a bit jarring, and Daniel Henning seemed to get the short shrift in terms of "screen time" (hear him shine in The House in the Cerulean Sea--a VERY different kind of house...) Nevertheless, absolutely excellent. A must listen.
