About this listen

Noah didn’t expect much from entering the virtual reality world of Asgard’s Fall.

Even the danger of the experimental full immersion technology didn’t put him off. It beat living in a nursing home, and it was supposed to let him feel young again...at least until modern medicine and his body gave out.

But there was something wrong with Asgard’s Fall. Most of the time, the “gods” running the game didn’t act like AIs were supposed to. Some of the players took things too seriously, like they knew something about the game that Noah didn’t. Forced to rely on skills he abandoned a lifetime ago and new digital abilities that resemble ancient magics more than modern code, Noah has to unravel the mysteries behind Asgard’s Fall. And in doing so, discover an ancient threat that has forced a world long hidden from mankind into the light.

Not sure

I am not sure how I feel about this book. Performance was great. The story was at times so knotted up that I was thinking of dropping the book. The skills where cool but the numbers did not feel like they where needed. The parts of the story that I could follow was good along with the mythos being brought about.

Not a bad listen, but not great either

This was a good story with good characters and solid narration. That said, there were a couple of things that made this a less enjoyable listen. First, the character sheet reading is ridiculously long and done too often. The story is probably hours less if you took all of that out. The only way around it was hitting the skip-30 seconds button several times to get past it. Second, the author occasionally slips into very long-winded verbiage that takes away from the continuity of the story and which is very difficult to skip. On multiple occasions, my mind wondered as the author exuberantly and excessively described something in the story. Some might like this, but when taken to extreme, I feel it takes away from the story. Overall a very good story and performance, but the negatives made it a bit less enjoyable. I will add book 2 to my wish list for a future sale, but I'm not feeling the need to jump into book 2 right away.

the story was more original than most litrpg books. I liked all the lore they pulled from.

At least it was long!?

That’s the best part of book. I got my moneys worth per minute just wish it was better. First half was all over the place like several writers were co Fri ting ideas. Second half was more cogent

Easy to listen to and if you miss a minute or two spacing out that’s okay with this book.

Being old is not the end.

A man who is dying gets a chance to be young again, but in a video game. He gets stuck in a world controlled by the god pantheons, and is just trying to survive and save his family. I loved the format of the book, it really popped from the pages. I look forward to the next book.

Decent Listen

The beginning plot had a great build but it does lag durning the story line. As the plot thickens, it is difficult to follow or know just how many times one can have a certain act cast upon himself. I will say this, given mythology and how gods vanished from the earth or the lack of their intervention, it does put an interesting spin on past events and make one think. However, it has a center focus on the eastern early beliefs and I don’t think it gives enough weight to modern gods given how many contribute worship this strengthening said god. But, who knows! Maybe more of the plot will reveal the modern belief system.

bit of a doozy and a tad repetitive but great imo

great story and concept, little repetitive and hard to keep some of the abilities/stats from making you tune out and miss what the hells going on in the next couple minutes for me.
