About this listen

How do you fight a war when you have no army?

Brought down by the trauma of recent events, Ashen Spencer resolves to step up the fight against her enemies in the Directorate. With the help of an unlikely friend, she infiltrates the Palace Grounds to steal a priceless object...only to find something even more valuable.

With new strength, and faced with more challenges than ever before, Ash and her party begin to accept the grim inevitability of the coming war. Their allies in the Consortium must gather to take on the Directorate the only way they can: by revealing the bitter truth about the government that has lied to so many.

But with an enemy who will stop at nothing, is victory even possible?

Can’t wait to get the next book

I know I keep saying all of K.A Rileys books are good and I can’t wait for the next but it’s true and the way Yu-Li Alice Shen narrates is the best I’ve heard in a long time. If you like Hunger Games you’ll like this series

ASCEND FROM THE ASHES AND RISE PHENOIX

ASHEN FINDS HERSELF FIGHTING TO THE DEATH WITH FINN AND BELIEVES THAT SHE ACTUALLY KILLED HIM. THERE IS A LOT OF ANGST, AND SOME PEOPLE DO DIE, BUT FOR WARNING CONTENT, THERE IS A BRIEF SUCIDE AND THEN IT IS NOT MENTIONED AGAIN. BUT THE REISTANCE DOES RISE, AND FINN IS ALIVE!

THE STORY IS CLEAN WITH SWEET KISSING, AND THE NARRATOR DID A FANTASTIC JOB!

Finally got into it with this book

My interest was waning for this series as it was a bit boring to listen to but this third installment was somewhat an improvement

Meh

Have you stolen the story from 3% and mixed in some Hunger Games?! You may have even slapped in a taste of The Handmaids Tale. These books honestly just feel like the author watched/read popular mainstream dystopian stuff and mashed it all up into their own and said it was original. Was it a good listen? Absolutely! The narrator was awesome but these books just feel robbed.

Am I Reading Hunger Games Series?

In the whole series there are so many closely overlapping story lines that it’s distracting. It’s Catnis, I mean Ash, from the district in love with Peeta or was it Finn? But he’s from the capital and he injected himself and is battling his mind. There’s the arena where battles between the dregs are being spectated. Then there’s the friend that loves the girl but is stuck in friend zone and then hurts her family and the capital destroys their homes hunting for them and killing innocents along the way. There’s under ground rebellion leaders that have their own nefarious agendas. I mean honestly it’s Hunger Games with a few differing outcomes. Very disappointing.

Better than the last but mid

Not sure what was going on with the strange baby voice in the beginning but glad it finally stopped. The story was better than the second book but not good enough to redeem the series.
