Why did they base this off of the movie?

The Artemis Fowl books are so good, but the movie is absolute crap! Why would the take the movie, that gets so much wrong (including foaly not being paranoid and gender swapping Julius Root to name just a few) and base a book off of that? WYH? Nathaniel Parker is a great narrator though.

DO NOT EVEN

This is not the Artemis Fowl you know and love. The characters sound completely different, which is odd, considering it’s the same narrator. The characters personalities are completely different! It’s written poorly. The REAL Artemis Fowl is clever and smart. This is NOT. This book is very childish I cannot even get through it. I’m disappointed in Nathaniel Parker. He’s better than this.

I expected more but got little

this book though is a very dry listen to. and has a lot of confusing parts. this book could have been so much better if it were possibly in relative terms to maybe Artemis telling the story and perhaps Holly short. I do believe that. this could have been done better and I believe that Commander Julius root. is a male not female according to 97%. though this book covers multiple aspects and multiple different people however Artemis and Butler are neglected from it. they play critical roles throughout the book series and we're left out. and however done this may book be it brought most of the books down. I'm hoping that there is not another book based off of Julius root on this Accord. but I'm hoping to hear more of the story between Artemis fowl and Holly short moving forward. there is a lot of space and void between the two and also Butler and also fully. however honorable Julius root is in the book he is still a beloved character. this book does have some merit. however I don't believe it captured or delivered the max resolve. I'm hoping the next book if this book continues. has a better more defined and more character interactiveness as well.

I really do enjoy the Artemis fowl series and the artist foul twins but this book seems to drag them down I'm hoping for better results on the next one. I loving fan of this book series.

Not For Me

I love the Artemis Fowl series. I was expecting for this to be aligned with the books but it's more aligned to the movie. I didn't like the movie; I suppose this is a fine listen if you did. I found the character's personalities to be off, too dissimilar to the books. I enjoyed the extra information.

Story Problems

I don't know why but i originally thought this was going to be from Artemis' perspective. Like i said i don't know why but i thought i had read that when i preordered the book.

Overall i would say its pretty good. Not really a necessary listen but i don't regret picking it up. I am deducting stars for character and story problems. I fell certain character personalities aren't quite accurate. For instance, Holly short while still quippy and sarcastic seems a bit to suckupish. Just a bit. Even if you are willing to overlook slight character deviations which i normally would i cannot overlook story problems. "Officer Foaly"... maybe i am the one in the wrong right now but i seem to recall Foaly being a consultant not an officer.

There was also that comment from Holly about smoked brisket...Pretty sure Holly is at the minimum vegetarian.

"Commander Root herself"....This was a comment made by Holly, I am quite certain Root was male.

EDIT: I have reduced my star rating further after discovering that this has a different author. If your going to write a story in someone else's universe learn the characters!

Did the author even read Artemis Fowl?

Okay, clearly he did read the book, but I’m guessing it was once several years ago. Established characters from the world of Artemis Fowl change gender (Commander Julius Root is female), relationship (Juliette is Butler’s niece), and personality (Holly keeps begging Root to not fire her). Details of how the Fairy world works are changed as well. There are a few amusing anecdotes and it is narrated by the incredible Nathaniel Parker, but otherwise this isn’t worth reading if you’re a fan of the Artemis Fowl books.
