I shouldn't have trusted all the 5 star reviews

I should have been tipped off by all the 5-Star reviews. They were all written over a couple of days and seem to all agree that reading this book has fixed them. Just like that. I have just started this book and so far I hate it. Visceral hate. I do not think I will be able to finish. It seems like a self-published book because there are sentences that are just not right. Like it wasn't properly proof read. I'm not an English major, and let's face it being too picky about language is annoying; however, there are some really nonsensical sentences and changes of tense that make no sense. And remember I have only listened to a tenth of the book or less. Now for other complaints: It is exclusively written for women. All of the examples assume the person who is anxious/codependent/insecure is a woman. Moreover, so far the advice also seems pretty simplistic. I continued to read until I couldn't take it anymore and I returned the book.
