About this listen
Melody Martin is thrilled to be back in Tennessee to spend a week with her best friend, Jamie Snavely, over the winter break. Melody’s family had moved to Florida, and though Melody loves her new state, she has missed her friend. Without Melody knowing it, however, Jamie has invited another girl, Gwen Jones, to join them for a sleepover. Melody never liked Gwen because the girl constantly brags and makes up wild stories that can’t be true, such as an encounter with the infamous Bell Witch spirit. To make things worse, a sudden blizzard knocks out all the power and phone service to the area. Wyatt Payne, a local teen, is caught out in the blizzard and breaks his ankle. He frantically hobbles through the storm to the Snavely farmhouse in hopes of getting help, all the while being tormented by terrible, unearthly laughter. Now, with Melody, Wyatt, Jamie, Gwen, and Jamie’s mother trapped in the dark, cold house, they learn that Gwen’s stories of the Bell Witch are not so wild after all. And the dreadful, invisible spirit has come there for a reason.
Each Ameri-Scares novel is based on or inspired by an historical event, folktale, legend, or myth unique to that particular state.

A Haunting for sure!
This is the first I've had the pleasure of listening/reading works by Elizabeth Massie. I loved it! I knew it was in the YA genre. I think this can be enjoyed by anyone really.
Underneath the ghost story is really the story of friendship. I enjoyed seeing this develop between the four main characters. Jamie and Melanie are friends who basically grew up together before Melanie moved away. Gwen and Wyatt are friends of Jamie.
This particular story is about the Bell Witch who is said to haunt the Red River in this little town located in Tennessee. Blizzardy conditions, power outages and a sleepover make this the perfect setting for a ghost story.
Andrea Emmes is wonderful in performing this story. She made me feel like I was right there at the sleepover with the young teens. I can also see enjoying this series while camping and sitting around a campfire!

Great YA paranormal mystery
This was a great YA paranormal mystery. I'd rate it PG. There's 1 scene with a minor violence, no swearing, and no sex or sexual innuendos.

A Haunting For Sure!
I begin listening to this story and had to listen until I finished in one day! The storyline will keep you glued with the mysterious hunting in Tennessee. The Girls in this story find out how brave they can be and a special bond happens in the end. The narrator made the story come alive and you could see what was happening. This story and narrative was amazing!

One of my own fears told in a story
As a child I was often warned of the Bell Witch by taunting older kids.
The story scared me then and this is a good story for young adults.
I did not hope the chapters were broken up.
As you get to know the characters it makes the book more real.
My comments on the narration are that there were multiple repeated lines and a background noise that sounded like a blank cassette tape. The narrators voice was great for this book.

Haunting story
This book may start out slow but don't let that put you off this haunting updated version of the Bell Witch will give you a spine tingling chill. Trust me this is one witch you do not want to be on the wrong side of. I loved the creative well written storyline and characters. The author stayed true to the Bell Witch story but turned it up and made it a story to remember. Andrea Emmes was a phenomenal narrator who truly brought the story alive with her gift of storytelling. I received this book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here of my own volition. I highly recommend this book and now I desperately want to hear/ read more from this author.

The Bell witch is gonna get you!
I'm not sure if this is YA but it definitely should be. I listened to the audio book. The narrator, Andrea Emmes voices the characters very young. Like 12 or 13 years old. I think if I was listening or reading this at that age, I would have liked it more. As an adult, it fell a little short. The story and writing was ok. I requested this audio book in exchange for a honest review.

Fun YA story
I didn’t realize when I requested this book that it was written for a younger audience. It took me several restarts and rewinds to make it through. I don’t recommend for adults but a good scary story for 8-11 yoa. Narration was good but there are a few lines repeated that didn’t get edited out. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.
