A more friend focused Bridget Jones:)

This was such a fun book to kick off the summer! Great characters and witty storyline, mixed with a touch of romance. Laughed out loud several times! Great story about longstanding friendships amongst women.

Pretty good read!

This is the first book I’ve read by Lindsay Kelk. I love Sophie Kinsella/ Madeline Wickham and this was said to be similar. It was in that it was from a British author but the story was just OK and quite drawn out. The narration was a little rough but once I became familiar with her voice it was fine. I’m still looking for another great author but this one was fine for a long car ride.

Hilarious!

Would you listen to Always the Bridesmaid again? Why?

Any additional comments?

The writing in this book is witty and...hilarious! The narrator is fantastic! (Honestly, much funnier than my own imagination if I had read, rather than listened to, this book.)

The plot didn't sound that great when I was browsing books, but the reviews were so good, I decided to try it. Glad I did! It explores a great mix of career challenges, soul searching, friendship, and of course romance. All punctuated with sarcasm and wit.

This was my first Lindsey Kelk book, and I am hooked. I'm now listening to the "I Heart" books, and they are also great, but none as good as this one.

I hope more of the print books are made available on Audible.

This book was hilarious, and read so perfectly, I was sad when it ended. British chick lit at its best. More please!!

Amazing, funny, entertaining, just great!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I'd totally recommend this audiobook. I used to not like audiobooks but now I just can't get enough. The story is really funny, I could totally picture what the narrator was talking about and also I LOVED the narrator's voice. You should know that for me, the narrator has a huge importance in choosing an audiobook and in this one Lotti Maddox does a great job.

What about Lotti Maddox’s performance did you like?

Her voice and accent.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I kept listening to it in small doses at work.

So-so story, did not care for the narrator

I had listened to About a Girl by Lindsey Kelk and had the absolute best time listening to it, so I downloaded this book (unrelated to the About a Girl series). Blah. I didn't like the friendships between the girls from the beginning and the story progressed just as I imagined with no real surprises. ***Spoiler Alerts*** I think the thing that bugged me the most was that we were supposed to be rooting for the main character, an event planner, who in the past apparently was brilliant at her job but did nothing but make mistake after mistake throughout the entire book. I felt myself thinking, "You don't deserve this promotion, you suck at your job." Also, her primary love interest was so transparently "not into her", it was annoying to listen to that piece of the story unfold. I also didn't understand why, after being humiliated upon learning that her said love interest was dating someone else, why that someone else had to sock her in the eye? Tall, blond bitches don't go around getting their ghetto on and actually hitting their arch nemesis in the face. IMO a cocktail thrown over the head would have been enough.

I also did not care for the narrator. Too monotone and boring sounding. The woman who read About a Girl was 1000% times more entertaining.

Anyway, if you have literally run through every book you can think of and just want a fun-ish summer read, then go for this one. It isn't terrible, just not great. That being said, I did listen to the whole thing because I was dying to know how it would end, so obviously it has some redeeming qualities.

Perfect

Perfect story, perfectly narrated. Smartly written with great character development and so well read by Lotti Maddox. The only bad thing about this book is there's not another one.
